If it falls this way, pundits will declare them genius and draft grades adorned with A+s

1st (16) DE UCLA A.Barr- Cowboys rejoice and fill DW's spot. A couple of CBs
and QBs get selected. Z.Martin and Shazier are still available. Donald long gone.

2nd (47) DT Florida D. Easley. positive feedback from his medical. Dallas gambles and rotates him
at the 3T. Gives him a season to stabilize his knee before Melton walks and he takes over.
Barr makes the gamble more likely. Top 10 talent in the 2nd is too much not to take a shot at.
Has a fiery spirit not seen on the line in a long time. (At this point, the draft is declared a huge success- stars aligned. Dallas can go BPA for the rest of the draft without a pinch

3rd (78) RB Jerick McKinnon 4.34 5'9 209 - small school but played very well against top competition. Option QB. Dallas is playing with house money and get an explosive, every-down back. 32 bench and thick frame gives the offense something they desperate need- balance. Passing on DL or OL help but this is a stand-on-the-table prospect.

4th (119) Brandon Thomas OG/OT - this guy has pro-bowl talent and line flex. injury drops him and he'll be available in Nov. but red-shirt him and you've got a great player to back this season and will take a spot along the line next decade.

5th (158) Howard Jones LB- 4.53 6'3 235 Ideal WLB - small school. Might need a year but has the speed and explosiveness Dallas wants for this Def.

7th (229) Davon Coleman-AZ state. D1T/DE like this guy even in the 5th but hopefully he is still around.
7th (231) JCCopeland RB LSU 5'11 271 Short yardage hammer.
7th (238) Chris Whaley DT Texas - converted RB to DT. Still gaining weight and experience: 6'3 270. 1 Gap
7th (248) Alibene Christian WR/KR/PR Alibene Christian - Speedster

Love your first two, hate the 3rd. Way too high for McKinnon, and they mentioned on one of the Cowboys radio show that they worked him out at CB.

Maybe it is just me but that seems a little high for us to take a RB and especially McKinnon.

Your 1st 2 picks are good but then we get pretty much no one that will play this season, except maybe Coleman. Too many ?'s in that entire draft for my liking, a lot of possible disasters.

Seems like most experts lately have Barr falling into the 20s range.

Exactly my thoughts.

Change McKinnon with either WR Jarvis Landry or RB Bishop Sankey/Charles Sims and I like what you've did although you didn't use 2 7th round picks.

First two picks are my dream scenario. Literally the exact two players I'd want. Barr might be my up number one first round target (within reason)

If he falls to 16 then they better take him there and not get cute because teams like the Jets, Eagles, Chargers, & Bengals all have serious needs at edge rusher.

Your top four picks are 1: A novice that two of the top draft experts have falling to #30, 2: A guy who has torn BOTH ACL's, 3: A guy nobody's ever heard of, and 4: Another guy who just destroyed his knee. Sounds like a typical Cowboy draft. ;)

Yep. LOVE the first two picks. Things drop off after that though.

I like the 1st two picks, but man that draft has a ton of risks.

They actually worked McKinnon out as a CB at his Pro Day and Wilcox raves about his character.

He is what Campo would say is a "football player".

Just a thought.

Dallas ran the drills at CB; teams observed him do both RB and CB drills because he played CB in his first year. Doesn't mean they see him as a CB or that they prefer him as one. He planned to do both drills.

If they're only going to keep one 3-tech (i.e. let Melton go), then why not just keep Melton and not take the risk on Easley?

The 3rd is way early for McKinnon. The best RB in the draft is likely to be a 2nd rounder and there's a big list of RBs after that.

The 4th is definitely the earliest on Thomas, but I would really like to get him. The problem is that the Cowboys have Zero depth at OG on the current roster.

I'm not certain that they're are looking at Jones as a LB. He was a DE in college and his primary skill was rushing the passer.

I don't see Copeland getting enough snaps in the Cowboy offense to make it worth a pick or worth carrying him on the roster. A guy like Millard would be a much better fit due to versatility and being a excellent receiver with decent speed.

There are better DT that are likely to be available in the 7th. Ken Bishop, Zack Kerr, etc..

I'm not certain how you drafted and entire college.

Age and cost. Melton will get 9-10 million if the contract is extended.
