Schedule anomaly

IMO the problem isn't that a team is resting its starters for the playoffs. The problem is that a potential playoff team gets an easy win in the last season. I don't feel like looking it up, but I feel as though this happened this last year.

Not sure why resting starters is a problem, except for the television ratings. If you win your early games, you should have the option to plan ahead for the playoffs.

It doesn't change the problem, since you're playing the same teams on the schedule. It just moves a more meaningful game to the very end. If you're good enough, you'll still get to rest some starters. If not, you don't get the luxury of playing your most important games prior to the end of the season.

But it's not like that's a guaranteed right, or even a privilege based on merit. In fact, you can argue that it's an advantage that has nothing to do with the quality of your team to have all your most important games on the schedule early.

Jets made it in because the Colt's assistant HC pulled the HC out of the game.

I think it's a good idea but nothing ground breaking.

Pretty much.

Unless you have the top 2 teams from a division playing, it's really gonna be the same. I suppose there could be tie-implications on the line without #1 and #2 in a division playing each other but most of the time it's likely going to be just another game.

It happens. I just found out two weeks ago that they're no longer releasing new episodes of Golden Girls.

It's a shame, really. I'll miss Blanche. Meow!

So I was looking at this years schedule and something I noticed that I don't ever remember seeing before is that every game on the final weekend of play is against a division opponent. Every one of them.

Does anyone remember this ever being the case before?

Godell and crew are trying to prevent all the winning by teams that people coasted at the end and cost them the playoffs. Funny thing is the two teams everyone cried about (indy one of them) Division foe or not the game would still have seen the Colts not playing their starers. If Belcheat had to do it all over I bet he would have set some of his guys losing Welker really hurt them in the playoffs

I don't think that having strictly divisional games in the last week would affect that "problem" either. Could still have a clinched divisional champ playing someone who is playing for a wild card berth. If the division champ has everything wrapped up, they could still rest guys.
