Schlereth: Cowboys are the frontrunner to win their division

As an Iggles' fan, I can see the Cowboys as possible faves in the NFC East. I do, think, however, that the Birds' depth is better in most spots than the 'Boys.

So, the Cowboys must avoid key injuries to win the division.

Hey, it's possible.

That is the polar opposite of what the scouts say. Where did you get that info?

"Shelton's hoops background shows in his foot speed and fluid lateral movements. He possesses the "basketball feet" to mirror twitchy rushers and the arm length to keep them away."

Exact opposite. I haven't heard that he has sluggish feet. Shelton's basic problem is that he needs to gain strength. Some meanness wouldn't hurt.
I've carefully observed several of his posted videos (sever times over) and have yet to see those so-called twitchy feet that have been mentioned in other videos. What I was surprised to see were some less than strong efforts to block defenders as securely as they should have been otherwise. Perhaps they weren't typical of the same plays that impressed other observers considerably more.

In any case. I'll make it a point to check out some of his better plays that had left others much more impressed. He was playing left tackle in the videos that I observed a while back. Maybe RT is his best bet for the future?! Perhaps we'll see about that once he's involved in the pro games.

Good stuff.

I think I get what you are referring to: "He's frequently stalemated in the run game, lacking the leg drive to move defenders off their spots."

Might look like he lacks twitchy feet, but it appears it's a lack of strength that makes it look like that. He's actually extremely twitchy w/ great feet, but they won't do him any good until he gains strength.

What the hell? Did this really happen?
Around 2011–2012, a rumor circulated that Schlereth was so lazy during broadcasts that ESPN allegedly set up a closet with towels on the floor for him to pee in (without fully removing his on-air gear or walking to a bathroom). Interns were then supposedly responsible for cleaning up the soiled towels.
Supposedly, they came out and debunked it after the fact but I find it a bit too specific and peculiar for someone to just randomly make it up.

They would also be the front-runners to get bounced in the first round of the playoffs in embarrassing fashion

This sums up Jerry Jones to me. He's about "The Brand" more than anything else, including winning games.

I remember well his choice to have the roof open at the new stadium for opening night against division rivals the Giants. That Monday night game was for show. To sell the brand. So the roof open was a more impressive look on TV.

But Texas can be humid in early September, and it was. And being early in the season, all players are not fully acclimated. And we lost that opening season game because some of our guys couldn't handle the heat & humidity.

Brand first, everything else, including Winning, later on.

The Brand and of it's tie-ins are more important to the Empire, than the teams and the fans, and winning.

Side Note... the sun and lack of the drapes being used...

You cannot win an argument with such an owner with that mindset.

Your post is ridiculous. Do you really think they lost because of the humidity? Maybe the giants players had something on them so they wouldn’t feel the humidity? Or maybe New York is more humid than Texas so their players were more acclimated? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I hope you weren’t being serious.

For whatever reason, the humidity affected our players in a way that the Giants got the edge...

Laugh all you want.

Is that you Jerrah??

A similar thing happened in the "Pickle Juice Game" where our players couldn't take the Dallas heat, but the Philly players could. It pointed to a clear lack of preparation and conditioning by the Cowboys organization.

Pretty sure Dark and Triplets just slipped each other the tongue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course. However, Jerry has been different since the GB playoff loss. And the player acquisitions are completely different this offseason. And I mean not even in the same ballpark. These were similar to the Tuna acquisitions. So, realistically: This D will be much much better. I see zero reasons to not think so.
After the GB playoff loss Jerry did next to nothing for two years.

Only this current offseason have the Cowboys done anything to even resemble a serious attempt to upgrade the roster; and for some people even this hasn't been enough.

Correct. It's like he gave up after that. Kept MM for another season because Jerry doesn't like to pay guys not on the team, then started the rebuild.

The FA acquisitions were the worst I've ever seen this team make. None of them made sense except Javonte. All except J were proven bad NFL players. It's like Jerry actually tanked. Not sure he's capable of it, but the pickups sure make it look that way.

Is there any way Jerry actually thought we'd win after trading off Parsons?

To be fair the Parsons trade allowed the Cowboys to get both Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark at DT. Without them they would have had to keep both Osa and Mazi.

But I agree with you.

I mean, the delusion required to think we'd win in 2025 is monumental even for Jerry. The bad D from 2024(28th) was obviously going to be horrific after dumping our best player in Parsons along w/ anyone who could play(Lewis/Golston/DLaw). So, we were left w/ Osa and nothing. There is just no way anyone could actually think we'd be good. Is Jerry that delusional?
