Schlereth: Cowboys are the frontrunner to win their division

Correct. It's like he gave up after that. Kept MM for another season because Jerry doesn't like to pay guys not on the team, then started the rebuild.

The FA acquisitions were the worst I've ever seen this team make. None of them made sense except Javonte. All except J were proven bad NFL players. It's like Jerry actually tanked. Not sure he's capable of it, but the pickups sure make it look that way.

Is there any way Jerry actually thought we'd win after trading off Parsons?
First of all , I don’t believe he ever intended to trade Parsons.

So , what would happen didn’t cross his mind. He’s always the eternal optimist.

Once he saw the season was tanking it was then he tried to save it with mid season trade.

Agree. I don't think he's smart enough nor tough enough to tank. He's definitely a little wussy cry baby.

We actually made the right moves, and I agree completely that we did it by accident.

Not as much accident as being force fed.

And why I can’t give us any credit.

Bingo. There was no plan for any of this to happen. Jerry is a knee-jerk , seat of his pants GM. He tried like hell to sign Parsons. When it became clear Micah and his agent weren't interested in a team friendly deal around mid summer, Jerry acted like a jilted school boy and traded him the week before game 1............ thus imploding whatever chance this defense had to be decent. All the offseason planning and defensive construction was out the window.

I like what has been happening this offseason, but like you, I'm not crediting Jerry as if this was some kind of master rebuild plan. He foisted it upon himself.

Right!!

I think you missed a "not".

Agree. Jerry unintentionally tanked. Finally got some pieces that might lead to something.

He had already tanked in 23 by releasing Tyron/Armstrong/Hankins/Gilmore/Kearse/Gallimore. Tried to tank at RB but got lucky w/ Williams.

Man, if this isn't the greatest irony, Jerry tanks and doesn't even realize he's doing it!!!!!

He caught and went back and edited .

Well, we’ve always said we retained hope he could luck into winning. Lol

I’m still not sold we have all the pieces needed on defense but it appears a step in the right direction given the circumstances.

And while our offense and QB put up top 5 numbers they still show some struggles against elite teams.

But with closer to an average defense we should at least be a playoff contender again which is our dysfunctional owners priority of remaining relevant and hanging around the rim.

While normally quite true, keep in mind that we just acquired Caleb. Some understand his super human powers, some don’t. Soon, we all will.
I applaud your certainty...of course, I want you to be right. I'll be happy if he has 1/2 the impact Roy Williams had his first 3 years honestly.

Roy Williams? Roy Williams??

One day, for fun, Caleb is going to stop at Ronnie Lott’s house and show him how to play safety.

Caleb is a much much better prospect than RW. RW could hit and that was about it.

Are you really doubting Caleb’s super powers?
Call me from Missouri...

I didn't love Da Tuna...but I did love the accountability he brought back. Someone had asked him about Woodson returning and he said, "I tell all the vets...at some point in time you gotta show me than you can still do it." Basically , last year is last year.

Based on that, Caleb has a lot to prove. College was college. Last year was last year. College QBs ain't NFL QBs who have dedicated their lives to making you look bad.

Prospect. Doesn't necessarily mean he'll be a better player, but he is a better prospect than RW was coming in.
Maybe. NFL teams don't agree with you. Roy was drafted 8th overall, Caleb 11th. Might have kept dropping. Roy was drafted 8th in a pass/run balanced league...whereas Caleb was falling at safety in a pass happy league.

As I said...we will see.
