See winning td against Pittsburgh.
He made a play there but hasn’t been real consistent. He’s having trouble getting separation. They showed it last night. With Cooks being out for several games he should be more productive. He’s not bad but nothing special which is why we traded for Mingo.

Scoonmaker wasn’t drafted to catch passes he was drafted to be a 6th offensive lineman and open up the run game

And with that he should’ve been drafted later or not at all by us

He caught 6 passes. He obviously can catch the football. Hopefully, Schoonmaker and the Minnesota kid get to play the next 2 games and get more experience while Ferguson is out.
The Cowboys problem might be the head coach and the assistants. Jerry is right about one thing everyone takes a part in this mess. Unfortunately he will not fire the biggest issues with the team.

We are lucky that it is so bad that it is actually good.

The Pittsburg catch wasn’t really contested. He came across the field barely in the end zone, caught the TD pass and was jostled afterwards. That’s not contested to me. He was supposed to be a 50/50 guy and a Yac guy. He was been neither. He is not a physical blocker either. I hope I never see him or Brooks among the top 3 receivers again. They are both below average receivers in my opinion. Neither guy can beat 1-1 coverage, and you just can’t scheme those type of guys open. Most of their catches have been short of the first down line, meaning the defense is giving them just a little room, knowing they can’t make plays.

This team is desperate for speed or quickness and route running. An NFL receiver has to be good at something to be serviceable. What they provide will never be enough. They are both worse and less talented than Gallup or Tyron Williams ever were. That’s not good.

Broadus commented after the game Ferguson was the only “ quality tight end “ and I’m thinking what game did he watch . Schoon & Spann Ford showed what I suspected , if you target them they can catch . And unlike Ferguson this year Schoon in particular last night actually had downfield receptions .

A new HC hopefully an Ex OC can get a much more rounded offense in attack mode and not just Lamb and short dump offs to Ferguson . Use your personnel

Schoon & Spann Ford did have their best games, but Fergy is better than either one. As much as I hate mikes crappy offense it looked like he called a better game just bad execution from everyone involved. And what I mean is he didn't just call curl routes at 10 yards the whole dang time. This offense has too many starters that are career backups at best and it shows.

Schoonmaker is a solid te, can get open and has relatively decent hands.

Needs to get more consistent at blocking but he's been underutilized so far in Dallas

He's the best TE on the roster but no one has bothered to coach this kid up.

lol.

Of course you’re defending a Dallas cowboys draft pick. I’m so surprised

The problem is Dak won't throw him the ball. Same with Tolbert. Both players produced when targeted.

Get a new HC, OC and offensive system to fit the players and they will produce.
You are still talking about Tolbert hahahaah. Give up already, he’s a bum

It was surely about time Schoonmaker was afforded the opportunity to display his wares and participate in the action. Like most youngsters, he simply required the necessary time to develop his skills to a point to find success. Let's hope he'll continue to build on it. Many here form opinions far too prematurely, without taking into account the time it takes to develop their skills. I was glad to see them afforded that opportunity. Perhaps now, they'll get to build upon it.

Wrong. They traded for Mingo because Cooks will be gone after this year.
If they felt good about Tolbert replacing Cooks they wouldn’t have traded a 4th for Mingo. The move was criticized. Mingo did little this season with Carolina and did nothing last night. The Cowboys are trying to bolster their receiving corp, giving them another option. Flournoy started last night so it’s obvious the Cowboys aren’t sold on Tolbert at number two. He hasn’t done a lot since Cooks injury. Our WR group has been criticized for their route running and not being able to separate.

The issue with Schoonmaker wasn’t that he couldn’t play in the NFL. It was where he was drafted.

The cowboys can and have got TE’s just as skilled if not better later in the draft. Namely Schultz and Ferguson as of late.

If Schoon was a 4th round pick nobody would have complained.

The issue is we need legit quality starters with our second round picks and we haven’t been getting them lately. Not since Diggs.
