they so much want to replace steele. trying different draftees.
calling him out.
now making a trade.
wouldn't be surprised if he is benched mid season
I think if we're going to expect him to get up to speed to compete at RT, we're going to have to put him there and leave him there. He'll technically be the swing tackle, but all his focus for now needs to be on RT. Obviously, switching to RT as a rookie did not go well for him. He was not able to translate the technique because technique was never his strong suit. All I read from Steeler nation is that he was better on the left side.
You'd have to support me on Patreon to get that kind of information.Whose decision was it to extend Steele rather than just cut him this offseason?
Are you questioning the talent-evaluation skills of our GM?So Jones couldn't lift weights for months rehabbing his neck and lost a ton of weight. Showed up at training camp looking like he was under 300 lbs. Was unexpectedly cleared to play and was a complete train wreck when he did.
This is our top backup OT.
They traded a 3rd and a 6th for a 4th and Jones. Not saying it was a lot, but it wasn't whatever you typed there. They traded a 3rd for a 4th and 6....they really didn't trade anything lol.
Oh you’re right wow I read last night it was a 4th and a 6th I’ve been running with that my mistake. They traded a 3rd and a 6th for a 4th and Jones. Not saying it was a lot, but it wasn't whatever you typed there.
Not a big mistake. All good my friend.Oh you’re right wow I read last night it was a 4th and a 6th I’ve been running with that my mistake.
He was switched to LT after starting lout with Georgia at RTI think if we're going to expect him to get up to speed to compete at RT, we're going to have to put him there and leave him there. I’ve been saying it all day you’re the only person to correct me glad you did I’d be wondering where our draft pick is at lol.Not a big mistake. All good my friend.
I think that's needed for now, even if he's going to be the swing tackle. Technique is a big issue for him, along with his weight and strength right now, so let him get his technique down on the side he's competing on before working him on the other side if Steele wins that competition. He was switched to LT after starting lout with Georgia at RT
and the stealers had him back and forth at tackle trying to make him a swing
put him at RT and let him settle there
And full confidence of all Zoners! So Jones couldn't lift weights for months rehabbing his neck and lost a ton of weight. Showed up at training camp looking like he was under 300 lbs. Was unexpectedly cleared to play and was a complete train wreck when he did.

Not encouraging.
Yep, that was a horrible move. And we are really stuck with him for this year and next now. Only way out realistically is a trade....but how many teams would take his salary which is guaranteed for a player that probably wouldn't start?Man, should of just let Steele go in hindsight over giving him guaranteed money to lower his cap hit.
Oh well, hopefully Jones can push him
I 'm thinking Jones was welcomed into the fold in hopes that time would cure what ails him. The vertebrae fusion may be just what the doctor ordered with time working in his favor. Time will tell. That’s all fine and dandy but what is about the dudes neck that was just fused together?….
This^^^^^ ......and why do fans keep saying we didn't really give up anything? ( our 3rd for their 4th and 6th ). I don't understand this thinking coz your 3rd-rounder has a much greater chance of making an impact than a 4th- or 6th-rounder.A couple days ago there were rumors the Cowboys were the ones to call the Steelers about Broderick Jones. Pittsburgh was not actively shopping him until Dallas made them an offer.
Now we know why. If they were happy with Steele they would not have done this. Jones was clearly someone the coaches and scouts had their eye on. And once it became clear something needed to be done at RT they went out and got him.
