Schottenheimer is 'pounding the table' not just for players - but for CHARACTER players.

You can pound as much as you want

You're getting what Jerry gives you....pound more and he'll let Stephen deal with you which means you get whoever will work for pork n beans and warm mountain dew
Come on now. It’s been stated McClay is the guy making the picks.

He is damn good. But also the reason we picked Taco over Watt

AND
Deion's philosophy in Colorado smirks at the 'character' ideology.

Also, early 90s Cowboys had all sorts of non-character guys

So, which is it? Talent or character in football?
And how much winning has that produced in Colorado? Seriously? How many championships? Or wins over top 25 teams?

Does the AD at Colorado care about any of those accomplishments?

Only someone that wants to argue brings up Championships.

The major point here is, you aren't firing Deion and losing your plush AD salary for a crap shoot new head coach.

I take it that Shotty means football character, guys that love the game, but that doesn't necessarily mean chior guys. Cowboys need a couple of Dawgs on the DL that will put hands on OL all game.

Last time this team won anything…they were FAR from choir boys, BUT they also had a coach that could keep them in line.

“Damn scared to lose” is how I recall one HOFer putting it.

Things are WAY different now yes, but no head coach has any shot at commanding the necessary respect when ownership is constantly meddling and insist on being the face of the franchise.

That is the very root of the problem, then go ahead and add another dozen or so from there. They aren’t capable of making the roster good enough to overcome that.

Shoddy can pound the table all he wants (or all Jerry will allow rather) and it ain’t gonna come close to mattering.

I've heard leadership described as being 80% who you are, 10% what you say, and 10% who's listening to it.

Everyone in the building knows the score with Schottenheimer. He's a 20 year mediocrity, coasting by on his father's name, who was hired out of comfort and loyalty to the owner and QB rather than any actual skill. As soon as he stands up against that owner, he's gone. And because people know he's nothing but a Jerry toady, no one is taking him seriously.

Schotty can talk all he wants about high-character players. As soon as Jerry tells him he wants to draft a cannibal that runs 4.4, all Schotty can say is "yes, Jerry." He knows it, the war room knows it, the Cowboys players know it, the fans know it, and Jerry knows it.

Good on Mr Schottenheimer...to many good players who are or strive to be decent men and human beings.

I do not accept a$$wipes in my life...why would I want them on a team I root for?

Go Cowboys!

Oh yeah that's right. The purpose of playing is NOT to win the games and win Championships. I'm sorry that I misunderstood the reason that people compete in college or professional athletics. That philosophy has brought fans so much joy over the years. Hey the media is talking about us. Hey we win the Money bowl. Sanders won't win at Colorado just like Jerry will never win here. Because substance wins. Flash does not.

Character is a whole lot better when the player makes pro bowls. Draft me Lawrence taylor and Ill provide the weekly cocaine.

Character wasnt worried about when they were winning SBs. Then character concerns resulted in one of the biggest mistakes in Cowboys history, skipping by Randy Moss because he smoked a little weed.

Because when they Cowboys go 5-12 you wont give one damn about the work Dak does at the homeless shelter.

Conversely, if the Cowboys win a SB, you wont give one damn about the work Dak does at the homeless shelter.

Jimmy knew how to manage the characters. The current Jerry circus who panders to players obviously isn't the same. I think we need high-character people more now than ever.

And besides, as questionable as a guy like Irvin was off the field, when it came to football his character was unquestionable. Nobody wanted it more or worked harder than he did. That's a far cry from the types BS is talking about who are lazy and entitled and who don't love football.

Sounds familiar...but if that is the case take Hairston the Kentucky CB...love his smile and attitude

Yeah, the youngins don’t even need Lawrence around to tell them not to listen to the head coach because Jerry is the man. They already know it.

Jerry wants it that way and either doesn’t see it as a problem or doesn’t care. Goes back to wanting to win his way or not at all. His way isn’t about winning football.

We know this. Took me a while to catch on, but he has to be waited out. He may live forever and try to run the loser of a team for another ten years, but he will only embarrass himself. Fine by me. Fully deserved.

Drug use with no battery charges is a stupid reason to not acquire someone.

My grandparents take all sorts of drugs...like they stack 10 plus different pills a day
