Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer on @1053thefan said they continue to be hopeful that CB Joey Porter Jr. can play Sunday at Houston.

“We’ll see how he moves around today, see if he’s sore today. But I thought it was a great start yesterday. Really, really pleased with not just what I saw on the field, but really just the way he attacked his preparation and in learning the system. The big thing that will drive this is his ability to communicate with Caleb Downs and some of the safeties and things like that as we get ready to finish the prep.”

Schottenheimer on the trade: “We’re in a win-now mode. Jerry (Jones) is 84 years old, we got Dak Prescott playing at an MVP level right now, we’ve got a couple of incredible receivers. A chance to get a young player like Joey and add him to your roster with a secondary that is very, very beat up, I think (the trade) happens no matter what (happened vs. Baltimore).

“I think we’re always in the business of going and finding great players. And people like to call the Cowboys because we’re not afraid to make deals.”

Considering the number of players brought in via trades and FA, it appears Jerry in win now mode.

But we know Jerry is a Forbes first guy and articles/interviews like this are just meant to sell the brand more.

At 84, sorry but Jerry needs to be put out to pasture. Nothing against the elderly, but GM in the NFL is not an old man's profession. Should have been gone almost two decades ago. Stephen Jones at 62 ain't no spring chicken. Kinda like owning the best race care in the world and demanding to drive it yourself. SMDH..

LOL.

This guy wasnt even in win now mode last Sunday with 14 seconds left.

Get lost.

He actually turns 84 the 13th of this month but I have no problem with speeding that up.
Jerry doesnt look well.

Also, his jackets look too big on him now and he doesn’t seem to be able to lift his right arm too high.

Worried about the guy.

Pretty sure Jerry has it in his will that they must keep him on life support for another 30 years and keep him as the GM.

we got Dak Prescott playing at an MVP level right now
middle of the pack is now MVP level?

throwing it away vs going for the win is now MVP level?

Shoddy is trying hard to paint a picture of a top level QB AFTER proving he doesn't believe in said QB's ability to throw a winning pass.

If Jerry was truly in a win now mode he would relinquish his GM title and bring in an actual GM. Jerry's ego> win now
