I never even liked his (Schottenheimer) dad. The pre/post game speeches his father gave were among the most earnest and yet the WORST I've ever heard. Marty always had good teams, he coached hard, but his teams crumbled in the end...think MM the last 3 years but a smidge better.

Again, the reason why Jerry was not in a rush to fire MM and start interviewing is because he already knows the set of coaches he wants to hire and their situations. He's too old, arrogant and myopic to get to know a new person. His solipsism and narcissism won't allow him to imagine a world where a qualified coach is someone has not already met.

Jerry went outside of his circle last time so now he has to go back to to his familiarity comfort zone.

Moore or Schotty is like hiring Campo after Gailey and Garrett after Wade.

Jerry wants someone who wont give him any pushback and who is receptive to Jerry hiring Witten and naming starters, etc.

Why are so many people so worried about who the HC will be? Do they truly believe it will matter at all without Jerry instituting a major culture shift and stepping back to let a competent person be GM and "buy the right groceries" and let a HC actually instill discipline? He won't. Whoever is picked as HC, it won't matter. Our limit is the first or second round of the playoffs. I doubt we'll even make the playoffs in 2025.

Our best hope barring Jerry actually doing the right thing (which he won't) is for the Cowboys to somehow get really lucky and any team they face if they make it to the playoffs has a bunch of injuries like Detroit did. This team can't win it decisively without the other team crumbling come playoff time.

Schottenheimer would be the quintessential Jerry HC selection. And he probably thinks it'd be a brilliant move.

If he was if he had any respect at all he probably would have been given the OC job late in the year and had Mike McCarthy demoted.. he wasnt nothing to see here.

We have to watch the Eagles in ANOTHER NFC Championship with a stacked roster. The Commanders in the NFC Championship with a top 5 QB and $100 million in cap space. Giants have Nabers, Tracy, Kayvon and a top 5 pick.

I am not on the inside (obviously), but it appears these leaks are based off of people from the inside.

This just screams safe hire, bring Witten on and he takes over in a few seasons.

Schottenheimer has never been a head coach, has failed at multiple stops as well. There is ZERO reason to make him the next Head Coach.
