Schottenheimer notes from Combine

Jimmy and Tom...
Remember how bad Jimmy was the 1st year? I think Schotty is gonna be here for a while and leave his mark. Ive liked this hire and I like how hes kinds taking control by the way he attacked the DC job. The way he handled the Marshawn Kneeland situation said a lot about him. I lost a friend at 39 years old the day before we played the Chiefs and I actually used the "We move forward we dont move on" when I spoke about my best friend.

So sorry for your loss. I lost my mum in her early 60s just weeks before Kneeland died. I’m a pastor, a family man, and the eldest among my siblings, so I felt the burden of continuing to cope in the midst of the grief.
Seeing the Cowboys players and staff handle their loss so well in the middle of a busy season - but still publicly allowing room for their pain - resonated beautifully with me.

These coaches are human too, and at times in Schotty’s tenure and leadership, there are going to be moments when just being a good human being helps the team.

Not saying we should pretend that makes him Tom Landry, but he showed in that moment that he can bring composure and togetherness to the table. That counts hugely in delivering actual sporting outcomes.

I think he’s already been a better hire than most of us thought he would. He has room to improve, and I don’t know how long he’ll keep the job, but I can see a decent trajectory, if the FO doesn’t hamper him.

Thank you

I remember how everyone knew it was going to be a rebuilding year when Jimmy first took over. Thing was, Jerry let Jimmy do his thing.

The difference is after the Jerry and Jimmy split, I don't think Jerry ever wants to go through that again. You really think Shoddy has a gameplan and Jerry is going to let him do what he wants to do? You have more optimism than myself. Jimmy had balls, Shoddy is just grateful he has a head coaching job.

Schotty borught in a new DC. The new DC is young and has gone against everything Dallas has done in the past. It has schotty written all over it. I think thats a huge change in the way the franchise is operating

You sincerely believe Jerry is just going to manage his people as those people see fit to to their jobs?
