So sorry for your loss. I lost my mum in her early 60s just weeks before Kneeland died. I’m a pastor, a family man, and the eldest among my siblings, so I felt the burden of continuing to cope in the midst of the grief.
Seeing the Cowboys players and staff handle their loss so well in the middle of a busy season - but still publicly allowing room for their pain - resonated beautifully with me.
These coaches are human too, and at times in Schotty’s tenure and leadership, there are going to be moments when just being a good human being helps the team.
Not saying we should pretend that makes him Tom Landry, but he showed in that moment that he can bring composure and togetherness to the table. That counts hugely in delivering actual sporting outcomes.
I think he’s already been a better hire than most of us thought he would. He has room to improve, and I don’t know how long he’ll keep the job, but I can see a decent trajectory, if the FO doesn’t hamper him.
