Schottenheimer praising how Guyton has looked in OTAs

I hope he can take a significant leap, but when is the last time we've heard a coach say a player has looked bad at OTAs? Even last year he was severely overhyped between OTAs, camp, and preseason work only to end up one of the worst Tackles in the league come time for the real games.

I thought he played better late. But I didn’t expect greatness from a rookie playing a different side in the nfl. Technique and strength is key. I’m sure he added some strength and a year of reps should improve his technique. I think Beebe is gonna be better too. Reps are key

He has the agility and physical tools to do it.
He just needs to learn to be disciplined in his technique. Hopefully
he worked on that and added some strength in the off season.

He has to have that want to attitude. If he does, he can be a heck of a player for the team.

Not committing one ridiculous penalty after another would be a huge improvement. He led the league in OL penalties, in spite of sitting out half the snaps.
He was a bigger project last year than many claim. No way it suddenly clicks for him this year. I still think they'll rearrange the line up due to Guyton being so bad.

It was hard to believe they left him out there for so long last year.

Guyton improving and holding down the left tackle position would be huge for the team this season.

I hope he’s gotten stronger this year.
I think with his body type......he's gonna have issues getting stronger. He looks more like a basketball player....I think we are always going to be asking for him to get stronger...doesn't mean he can't have success though.

Everybody knows that our edge rushers do not suck.
No they certainly don't suck, but we know that our best one isnt participating in OTAs. Fowler is a 10 year vet likely not going full speed yet. Williams is coming off an ACL, hes likely not full speed yet. Nothing wrong with Schotty getting excited to the media about his 2nd year LT, but quotes about how well a guy is doing right now should be taken with a grain of salt.
