That's dramatic. It's not about throwing them under the bus. It's about not BSing and saying every single player is the greatest of the greatest at everything they do, just like McCarthy did. There is a Grand Canyon sized gap between those two things. No one expects him to throw anyone under the bus, but when true, there is nothing wrong with saying a player still needs to work on some things or is coming along well but still has a ways to go or just a blanket "he's out there practicing hard". This has been part of the problem with this coddled team. But more pertinent for this board is the fact that fans believe it and then are surprised when the regular season rolls around and the player struggles after quoting all of these glowing reports from the preseason. My point is it would be great to have a real idea on how some of these guys are doing, but with Schotty, just like with Big Mike, don't believe what he says about how well a player is doing right now.
