Schottenheimer - We're building a team. We're not just collecting talent.

Results in the field will be the ultimate scorecard and I don’t think this team is very good.

I will say I was not a fan of the schotty hiring and his resume is pretty lackluster but I have liked some of the comments he has made since hired. We will see if it has any impact though to change how this team operates. Really tough to change how things have been done for so long.
It will be 2027 before all of the holes are plugged. Dallas should have a decent top 10 draft pick next April. Going to take time for Shotty to change the culture of team. Pleasantly surprised with him so far. TIme will tell.

He must be talking about 3 years from now. Rookies aren't setting any standard. Another garrett process it sounds like. Gimmick coaching. Talent has to carry him like sirrianni

Coach Schotty is growing on me, it's taken awhile. I'm sure he's going to be awful at clock management keeping that tradition alive in Dallas. However, I like waht's happening. It seems different.

Only issue with this is, we did this before with the Tashars Choice draft. Bunch of good character leaders. Within a year or two we changed to more mean dogs, because it didn't work out. Schotty will need to actually do something with this type of locker room.

Man, I can't believe nobody ever gave this guy a shot until Jerry.

I can't believe this guy bounced around from team to team. Almost every year at a new place.

Jerry must see something that nobody else in his career ever saw.

We're so lucky.
Our fans are lucky.

He told us what he was going to do and, so far, that’s what he’s doing.

The team may well be middle of the pack again next year but it’s nice to see that there at least appears to be a plan and a thought out coaching approach.
I agree. The assumption by any that this team is competing for a superbowl right now would be foolish. This team has been in dire need of some sort of structure. The team has turned soft. Time to get some gritty winners on here that love the game.

I wonder if he would be a HC anywhere right now if McCarthy didn't tell Jerry to shove it?

Wonder what made him all of a sudden "ready" after McCarthy made him a fake OC?
What's your point?
Every off season, we see 5-7 head coaches fired. I'm sure those teams thought they had the right guy. As stated before, there's no evidence to prove Schotty will be any less successful than any other first-time rookie head coaches. For example, nothing special stood out about Andy Reid, John Harbaugh, Dan Campbell or Mike Tomlin but they have enjoyed outstanding success.

Honestly, I had my reservation about Schotty initially but after listening to some of his former head coaches ( including Pete Carroll, who fired him ) and the fact he spent his entire life around the game with Mardy, convinced me. It's early he won me over
****turned down two previous HC interviews/offers coz he didn't think he was ready.
****hired a number of outside assistnace coaches, NOT stacking his staff with former coaches he's worked with or friends ( see Kellen Moore ).
****this may seem small it appears he has excellent communication skills. It what separates Harbaugh, Campbell and Tomlin....ability to manage people on all levels, especially under pressure.

Sounds like the words of a head coach of a team without much talent.
Yup
Like a friend trying to set you up on a double date with his dates not so hot friend
You- what does she look like
Your friend - she’s awesome - she’s really cool - she’s funny - she’s so sweet

You - ummm ???

Of course this draft wasn't about adding talent because that was done through Free Agency.....this draft was about adding the character guys

Its exactly how the Eagles and Chiefs do it

Going from fake OC to HC is impressive.

If Dallas would've dumped him after last season I bet he wouldn't be an OC for anybody right now, let alone a HC.
I can understand you constantly dumping on Dak based upon his body of work but constantly dumping on the Head Coach who hasn't coached a game is ridiculous

Of course his failure rate is high, he is shackled to Jerry and Dak but come on give the man a chance

Please don't compare Schotty to Garrett. Schotty is at least a genuinely likable and good dude, not a robotic phony actor like Garrett.

You can tell Schotty does have very good people skills and really wants to build a cohesive team. My concern is he might be too nice. I hope behind the scenes he has, or develops, some bite to back Jerry off when needed. In this job you almost have to have a little jerk in you like Parcells did... but obviously Parcells had far more credibility with Jerry.

But then I won't hold it against Schotty if he can't overcome Jerry. Pretty much no one can. And he still can't force Jerry's cheap son to do anything in free agency. We're never going to get ahead in Stephen's current system where we lose talent every year and try to replace it with 5th and 6th round comp picks.

I will not back the schotty hire. The process was a sham. He does say all the right things, but there’s a difference between saying them and actually implementing them.

Show me. Don’t tell me. I’ll give him benefit of doubt and root for him and I like his demeanor but long long way to go and the process of hiring him was a farce and led by Jerry and Stephen which we know isn’t the best

I'm not interested in your thoughts on this. We know what posters like you, Rambo, and a few others think every time a decision is made.

You tow the line and like what Jerry tells you to like.

I'm more interested in the posters that are able to think for themselves and form opinions that don't always align with Jerry.

The ones that like what they're told to like are boring.

So, you trust Jerry over the 9 other teams that dumped or demoted him before he lucked out and worked for an organization where you fail up like the Cowboys?

You guys hate Jerry's football mind, but sure do support and love every decision he makes.

And Dak's been a loser for a decade and I'm still called an "Eagles fan" for wanting him gone (Which makes zero sense, seeing as how Dak is a loser), so I think the "give a guy a chance" thing is just word salad around here.

I don’t know any poster that is more negative than you. How do you even survive this world? Do you even go outside to the real world? Are you this negative with friends and family??

Your question is extreme and your statement is ridiculous. It is not about trusting Jerry or loving every decision He makes

All I said was let the man coach. Your reasons for condemning him, Jerry chose him and He has been around the league for a long time, are not valid

With Dak and Jerry and the Division improving He more then likely will fail but do not act like "You said it 1st"

The man obviously has a vision and is in the process of implementing it. It appears to be an emphasis on Running the Football which is evident by the high investment in a Mauler at Guard. A move I like very much

All we can do is give the guy a chance at the moment it is our only option because this team is an absolute mess until number #4 is gone
