Schotty on Milton

Shotty can say anything that he's inclined to -- I really have nothing to do with that. If you ask Shotty, he's surely not likely to tell you, or anyone else, that Joe Milton "can't throw." I can live with it, until something better comes along. Our FO isn't the most proactive, in any event.

Speaking strictly for myself, I wouldn't venture to say it's an ideal scenario. With Grier and Milton as our #2 and #3, respectively, it's simply what we have in house, like it or not. Rush & Lance weren't ideal, either. All in all, I feel we're reasonably fortunate to have what we do. Satisfaction isn't guaranteed.
When the boss makes a decision, you support it.

No way Shotty undermines the Jones.

Anyone who works for a boss understands this.

He can’t say Milton cant throw 5 ft, even though everyone knows it.

What is this even supposed to mean or intended to be profound?

He's still playing off his rookie contract like everyone else in his draft class is doing.
He’s making the lowest amount of $$$ the team is allowed to pay.

And his base isn’t GTD.

Aka scrub.

He threw against Buffalo. Go watch it. He also beat the Bills while playing for the worst team in league and cost them the 1st pick in the draft.
Please don't be so delusional that you don't realize he played the backups he literally played a practice squad team in short it looked pretty good against a backup team don't use the word Buffalo as if he played their starters the man is as raw as Trey Lance was he's just a bigger version of Trey Lance and everybody's so in a hurry to get rid of Prescott they would really believe this guy's ready to play and he's so far from that please let's talk about this in about two years and maybe he could be Tyrod Taylor at his best that's his ceiling,,,

Look I'm not trying to take anything away from him but you guys are is so in a hurry to get rid of Prescott and I know you're going to say you don't hate Prescott he played against a garbage backup roster you know when they pulled everyone when they weren't playing so it was basically a preseason game and what you're seeing is you think he beat Buffalo you think he literally played against Buffaloes starters he did not i'm sorry he didn't stop just stop he's as green as Trey Lance he is he's a bigger version of Trey Lance

I’m a huge Trey Lance fan.

He needed to get out of Dallas.

The QB room is jacked.

He threw the ball well just like I said. Everything that I said was absolutely true. He was playing for the worst team in the league and he played very well.

To me, anytime a guy has a great arm but he still gets drafted very late, there are obvious other issues. IMO you're almost better off with a late round guy with an average arm who has other intangibles that might translate to the pros.
I remember him at Tennessee against Mizzou. Guy has no touch on short throws. Could not read a defense.

one never knows on this chronically pessimistic board

But since you asked. I have decompensated cirrhosis with varices that need banded yearly, Hepatic Encalapathy as a result of the cirrhosis, my gall bladder barely functions and I'm too high of surgery risk to remove it.

WHat ails you?
What ails me? Idiots on this board.

I.hope you feel.better...
What we argue about on this board is nothing more than entertainment..

There's a league-wide limit on the total amount of compensation for rookies with specific salary parameters for each draft slot. Teams have maximum and minimum amounts that can be spent on their picks based on draft position you dunce.

It's absurd to suggest Joe Milton can't throw 5 ft. Jerry knows better and so do you. Joe Milton will get his chances to prove himself in TC and likely the preseason also. Anyone with a brain knows that even a child can throw a football 5 ft. It's a gross exaggeration to even mention it.

Shotty surely isn't trying to undermine Jerry Jones, either. Any fool knows better. Shotty surely isn't a fool. He does like Joe Milton thus far in practice, though. We'll see.

Being a Trey Lance fan really doesn't justify excluding everyone else. It is what it is. Shotty is just doing his job, whatever it entails. It'll all work out. Our QB situation is far from being perfect. Nevertheless, the trials go on to improve that whole scenario.

Here's your problem you want to believe that you want to believe we have our next quarterback of the future so you're going to twist any little sign that he could even be decent and you're going to roll with it that's what everyone's doing right now you do realize that their players like Mike White and I've seen other backups have signature games have two or three games in a season or in their career against real competition and real starters not the backups not a preseason game and they literally never dated again they weren't consistent enough we're not even talking about Fitz Magic you know Fitzpatrick who was a probably the best backup quarterback ever he was able to start games and win big games he did it more consistently that's why you can believe he had it in him...

But we have seen we even heard the hype about Ben Denucci and a couple good games he had what I don't know was that the UFLI don't know where he went you have to be careful when some of these players come in hell we've seen Tyrod Taylor do it a couple of times we've seen Jacoby Burset do it a couple of times they literally have a couple of good games a year and then they fall right back into being not so good quarterbacks that is what you call a lifelong backup and I don't even think right now Milton can be considered that...

So I just want to make sure people don't mistake this guy even for a Blake Bortles blake Bortles and a guy like Mark Sanchez played consistent enough it may played in AFC championship games solely on teams you know they were great the defenses were great the run games were great but even those guys were a flash in the pan..

You know how long it's gonna take for us to even see if this guy's even capable of being a Blake Bortles?

You witnessed was against backups it was a throwaway game buffalo started all their backups it was basically a preseason game and that's great i'm happy he's here and and that he has a shot but using that one game is silly i'm sorry man you're you're putting too much into it...

He is just like Trey Lance right now in his development he is way behind he is raw he has yet to prove anything he's a big bodied version of Trey Lance that's what he is he he's built like Cam Newton trey Lance is built a little bit more like Lamar Jackson if you look at their frames all of them are mobile quarterbacks but they're built different but Trey Lance and Milton the one thing they have in common is they're really raw they did nothing in college and so far they haven't done enough to prove they're even going to be a backup in this league...

That doesn't mean I'm not pulling for the guy I hope he works out but people around here some of the dak haters they're already thinking that this guy should replace Prescott at some time during this season just like they were all dreaming that rush was better when people say Cooper Rush was better than Prescott we would call those haters... It's just being delusional that's not watching closely at which your eyes are actually seeing and you're hoping so much that Prescott gets replaced that's your overrate what you're seeing..

I'm just saying temper your enthusiasm.

5ft was an exaggeration. It’s more like 10ft.

My opinion doesn’t carry any water…but JMs draft profile isn’t good.

Weaknesses

  • Disturbing lack of placement and timing as a deep-ball passer.
  • Completed just 38.6 percent of his throws beyond 10 yards (per Pro Football Focus) in 2023.
  • Struggles with anticipatory throws, running receivers into collisions.
  • Telegraphs throws between the hashes, giving safeties an easy jump on the ball.
  • Desires to throw the ball through receivers rather than deliver with touch.
  • Inconsistent tying his feet to eyes and squaring to his targets.
  • Frequently forces moving targets to break stride to try to make the catch.

I know.

Nice nickname.
