If neither Livings or Bernadeau can get/stay healthy, then I only see three options:

1. Smith-Leary-Costa-Frederick-Free

2. Smith-Leary-Frederick-Arkin-Free

3. Smith-Leary-Frederick-Costa-Free

#2 seems highly unlikely because that would be 3 players side-by-side with Zero experience in real NFL games.

#1 would have the advantage of not having inexperienced players next to each other.

I don't believe everything that Broaddus says and therefore I don't believe that #3 is impossible. I would like to see Costa at RG in a pre-season game.

Personally I think the smart move is to go with option number 3 for a couple of different reasons.

1. We need to get Frederick as many reps at center as we can and solidify the center position. Let's get Frederick settled in rather than making the transition from college to the NFL unnecessarily difficult.

2. We need to find out if Costa can play guard in the NFL. He was one of he best five ol last year. Lets see if he can do it. If he can play guard adequately then he is a definite roster lock. He may be a much better guard than center anyway.... So lets find out.

3. Preseason games are meaningless other than serving to allow the team to evaluate players. Romo wont play at all so player evaluation overrides getting the best 5 on the field.

Simple solution to this mess. Sign Brian Waters and let Fredbeard stay at center.

This is the fault of Jerry for not putting a priority on the oline. Why for the love of God do we only draft of few linemen here and there and most of them are projects from small schools?

and after signing him we find out why he's been pushing fries last year.

the answer is never as simple as us "fans" make it out to be. we just keep "making it out to be" that simple.
