I like the idea that Rod Smith might win a roster spot in our corps of RBs. I've noticed recently that his weight is up to 240 now. At 6'3" that's a good size for any RB. He should serve the team well, as he's said to be capable in a variety of skills, especially blocking, receiving and he's also said to be valuable with the ST unit. Welcome to the Cowboys' starting roster, Rod, if you make it as Broaddus thinks you will. I would think his brother, Jaylon, might very well be quite happy to see that materialize.

I'm hoping he makes the roster for that exact reason assuming, of course, his play warrants it.

Me, too, Leon. I would imagine that as a RB, all Rod would have to do is fall forward at the end of a run to get a couple of extra yards. If he's anywhere near as fine an athlete as his brother, he's likely worth keeping for that aspect alone. He is reputed to be very versatile, though.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I think Ivie will force his way onto the roster.
Especially if this guy has any say:

I know ppl will kill me for this but... I'd like to bring in Kaepernick, if for nothing else then to push Moore... idc about his politics (when it comes to football) and that's all that's keeping him off a team... A former SB contending QB with a HUGE chip. Yes, plz! 1-2 year deal, then let him go to see if he can start somewhere...

Plz keep politics out of replys, as I've already stated idc.

the biggest problem with these projections is the assumption everyone will remain healthy.
generally between 3-5 guys get injured and make the final 53 much easier.

I am not going to be mad if they don't but would certainly support it.
Kap has won more playoff games than all the Dallas back up QBs together have appeared in.

As Colin Cowherd pointed out, Kaepernick hasn't tweeted once about football in almost two years. He's tweeted plenty about "other" things. He doesn't care a lick about football.

I hate to defend what Kap has tweeted so won;t but this "litmus" test of yours is bananas.
I dont tweet about sex at all... but I assure you I have an interest in it.

FWIW, Booger McFarland guaranteed Ivie making an NFL roster.

Not sure about Booger's "guarantee", but right now I'm wondering about Stephen Paea missing considerable time during the offseason work with some sort of knee ailment. I can't help but wonder if he misses more time during training camp if Dallas will decide to go with Ivie at that position instead?

When he was signed, myself and I'd think many others simply penciled Paea into a roster spot, but now I'm not sure whether or not that should be the case?

To be sure, but I think that there is a general kennel of concern about Kaepernick's level of interest and commitment to football, especially given his situation last year.

And I think that is a legitimate concern, and likely a big reason why teams are staying away - among others of course.

And I don't think he or his agent are doing themselves any favors by not coming out and talking about things publicly. Right or wrong, it does raise questions about his level of commitment to playing the game.

Some good comments by Broaddus.
Pretty much what I have with a few differences. I have Bell being kept, and Lotulelei on the PS. I have Blanton making the team, and White on the PS.
I also have Noah Brown as a 6th WR, and Ivie on the PS, or if he has a big TC, he has to beat out Paea.

I like his comments as well as others posts about Rod Smith. I have been saying since well before the draft, he can handle multiple roles. A back up FB, and the 3rd RB, and can line up as a WR and play ST's. This is huge in creating a roster spot for a different position.
