I'll take J Willis.
I hope other teams think the same.
I agree that Taco has awesome upside, but Barnett is going to be the best pass rusher from this draft. This guy is Strahan reborn.
I really hope there's the Jason Witten effect on him. Teams shy away because of measurables but ignore the pure football player.
I wanted the Cowboys to trade down from #5 overall to the mid/late first to draft him. When they passed on him in the 2nd, I was really mad at Parcells.
I still don't see how Witten lasted to the 3rd round. I thought he was one of the most obvious players ever in the draft. He was one of very very few players that I had zero doubt would be at least very good NFL player. I didn't know he would be a HOF type player, but I was certain that he would be good.

The skinny (Lance Zierlein): I hope this scout didn't read my draft profile of Charlton, because it sounded like he was basically talking about me. I'm that guy on Charlton. I will readily admit that I expected him to have a more explosive workout at the combine and I've adjusted my grade somewhat since that time, but I still have him as my No. 11 prospect in the draft, while I have Barnett at No. 19. In fairness, I'm a big fan of Barnett's tape and his ability. I just happen to believe that Charlton has the higher upside of the two prospects, but also the lower floor.
I think that was part of the problem. The center group was very thin and they just had to have one, so they didn't think he would make it. The TE group was better, so they thought they could get one that lasted. It was just good luck that Witten did.Yeah, I remember the uproar when we took Johnson in 2. Who would've thought he would fall another round?
Yeah with only 33 sacks, most of which were vs SEC competition, I can see why you're still not sure of Barnett. Maybe is he broke Reggie White's all-time Vols sack record in TWO years, you'd think more highly of himI hope they are not on our menu Taco and Derek Barnett(both are projects IMO), we need some starting help with DB's and this draft is loaded at the top hopefully the bpa is a DB.
He is going to take some time to get the game figured out IMO. You must see him as a immediate contributor I do not.Yeah with only 33 sacks, most of which were vs SEC competition, I can see why you're still not sure of Barnett. Ask the Nebraska O-line if he's got the game "figured out". He single-handedly dominated them in his last bowl game, & was constantly in the Cornhusker backfield. He did it with speed, he did it with power, & he did it with more ferocity than any Nebraska blocker could handle. Does he need to expand his repertoire of moves? Sure. So does Garrett, Thomas, & ever other pass rusher in the draft. People think too much about a player's size, track numbers, etc. & not enough about his heart. This guy is a pit bull who plays with a rage that is hard to match. THAT is what I look for when I ask myself, "Is he a great football player"? The answer is a resounding "YES!".He is going to take some time to get the game figured out IMO. You must see him as a immediate contributor I do not.
I will go and watch the Nebraska game thanks for providing some providence for your opinion. Watch those early season games and you might see how I came to my conclusions about Barnett. He failed to finish most of the time, and reminded me of another guy we had on the cowboys we called "almost Anthony" (Spencer).Ask the Nebraska O-line if he's got the game "figured out". Taco reminds me of Ryan Russell
Yep. That's what happens when you initially grade a player too high on how athletic he looks and what you "think" he will do at the combine, instead of how he played football. When he bombs the combine, you have to adjust downwards.Wrong answer.

NFL teams are just bizarre sometimes. Witten was as much as a lock as you could get.
He may have been dinged up. I don't know. I do know that when he's healthy, Barnett has the old school ferocity you rarely see in players today. Spencer was a wuss who has no place in a Barnett discussion. Derek is a man-child who will light you up in a heartbeat.I will go and watch the Nebraska game thanks for providing some providence for your opinion. I hope you are correct and that he is available to us at pick 28. At this point with things settling down the menu looks very blah at our pick. I still have my fingers crossed that some teams realize these QB's have some talent in the first rd.He may have been dinged up. I don't know.
