Romo's our long term (expensive) backup. We can't trade him and he isn't going to give up millions to retire, so he's the backup.
I am looking at when Romo leaves, probably 2017 latest, they will need a quality backup.

He has guaranteed money until 2019. If you just cut him you leave some of that as dead money on your cap, I say keep him as oppose to that. However if there's someone that would be willing to trade for him I'd be for that.

I jumped on the Patrick Mahomes fanwagon in the offseason, before seeing what we have in Dak. Nice that we don't need one, but he looks better than any of the RD1 guys last year. He has an arm, throws w. accuracy, can stay in the play when there's a rush, and has some Romo-like pocket presence.

If teams aren't smart enough to pick him by our pick at #64, I'd take him and flip him in a couple years for a 1st.

I'm in Lubbock so I'm all for Mahomes but I'm not sure how he's going to be worthy of a first later unless Dak gets injured he'll be sitting on the bench unable to increase his value.

Maybe I sound biased but Mahomes looks like the best college QB in the nation to me. Just dropped 59 points on Oklahoma and 734 yards passing + 85 yards rushing for 7 total TDs while still not being 100% from a shoulder injury. Of course his defense is one of the worst ever constructed so they also gave up 800+ yards while giving up 66 points but he doesn't play defense and shouldn't be punished for it but he will be. I think he has NFL potential. He's basically been unstoppable when healthy. He came in to the game leading the nation in passing and just added 734 more yards against a pretty good Oklahoma defense.

I agree but this is all assuming his arm still works by draft time. Having a college kid throw 88 times in a game while he has a bum shoulder is abusive.
