Maybe it's becaue I work in health care, and we're constantly reading, examining, and critiquing articles, but whenever I read something, I ask, "what's the point of this article?" Don't really see one hear. Why does a writer for a National Publication feel the need to write a story on Monte Kiffin and the new Dallas defense during week 14 of the season? If we were tearing it up, I could see it. If we were losing like the Texans are, and it's because our defense is lousy, I could see it. But at this point, just seems like another writer trying to get hits on his website by talking about the Cowboys.

I think we have enough talent to be middle of the pack, but these injuries particularly to D-Line has put us into some tight spots this year. It's not like we have been neglecting our defense, salary wise for this year they're making just as much as our offense.

Remind me to never hire this guy. The D-line is a bunch of backups other than Ware? Um, you might be overlooking a guy who many consider to be the best DT this year in Hatcher? Oh, and Ware is perfectly healthy. Oh, and so is Lee. And Brandon Marshall seems to have a very different opinion of Carr. Call me crazy, but I'll take the word of a top notch receiver who has gone head to head with Carr over some "scout" who is not even willing to put his name to his comments.

And so is Spencer. Real healthy.

Yup.

Sure.

I see. So you'd rather defend a guy who considers Hatcher a backup? Or a guy who says Ware and Lee are injured...when they aren't? Stop me when I'm not pointing out blatant errors in this guy's analysis of our defense. Yup. Sure.

"They're not very talented," a high-ranking scout for another NFL team told USA TODAY Sports recently, speaking on condition of anonymity for competitive reasons. "That's why they're 32nd (in yards allowed)."

"Their D-line is a bunch of backups other than (DeMarcus) Ware, and he's hurt," the scout said. "Linebackers are hurt, and they don't have any safeties. They have a young guy (rookie J.J. Wilcox) who's going to be OK. They've struggled at corner. The LSU guy (Morris Claiborne) hasn't played that good. (Brandon) Carr – he's OK, but he's not worth what they paid him."

"They should be better on offense," the scout said of the Cowboys, who are tied for the division lead with Philadelphia at 7-5. "Defense – they are what they are."

Glad he cleared that up for me.

This.

In how many games has the Cowboys offense actually outscored the opponent's offense?

You have a pro bowl-caliber quarterback, a bevy of skill position talent, a pro bowl-caliber left tackle, and a highly ranked right tackle whose performance has exceeded all reasonable expectation. Even Bernadeau has played relatively well lately.

What's the dealio? Why is the offense only ranked 23rd in total yards?

So Ware making the comment that he feels better than he has in a long time actually means he's injured? Or Lee being cleared to play and that he says he feels no adverse effects from his hamstring really means he is going to be significantly hampered by this injury? What the heck kind of sense does that make? They were injured. They aren't anymore. Injuries heal. So to suggest that our defense isn't very good because of all these injured players who actually aren't injured is just idiotic. If this "scout" wants to dig up some other reasons, fine, but this line of reasoning makes no sense at all and just sounds like some random guy who doesn't have a clue about the current status of this team.

they've been injured, some most the year.. Hence why we are ranked so low for the year. Clearly the scout is talking about our performance to date.

It's not seven times. The actual number is closer to three. The Cowboys are ranked are high in points scored due to turnovers, which is fine. There's no shame in that.

But as the scout said, you would expect their offense to be more productive than it is.

To this I say, "No duh!"

Poor show, have to wonder if the author made up this "scout" in his head. If not, I missed my calling.

I'm sure our offense being ranked 2nd in RZ efficiency has nothing to do with that either. :p

The scout in question has Claiborne playing in this game but he won't. Scandrick is playing pretty sound ball in his place. Hopefully, our defense finds a way to put pressure on McCown. DeMarcus is healthy now and feeling his oats and Hatcher's no slouch either. I believe we may put more pressure on McCown than they're expecting -- at least, I'm hoping as much. On offense, we should put just enough points on the board to leave with a ''W."

Wow, they pay these people to come up with this news? Like anyone who doesn't live under a rock already knew this little tidbit.

Our offense has outscored the opponent's offense in four games. Of course, that's very misleading, because it doesn't account for returns that yield a very short field, and because the games play out differently after a return score (the other team's offense ends up with more drives in the game, for one thing).

For example, both the Chiefs' and Broncos' winning FGs came after Dallas turnovers on our side of the field.

Also, one of the reasons for this is that our offense simply doesn't turn the ball over: we're tied with Indy for second in the league with only 13 turnovers. Kansas City has 12.

What's the dealio? Why is the offense only ranked 23rd in total yards?
The main reason is that we don't have very many offensive drives. We're 25th in the league with only 135 drives. Some of that is because of the return TDs, some of that is because the defense can't get off the field. We're 7th in the league in points scored by the offense and 8th in the league in points per drive.

A high ranking NFL scout came up with the same thing I see low ranking Cowboy's message board members say all the time.

I need to switch careers.

This is obviously all true except for him forgetting about Hatcher (he obviously doesn't consider hatcher a backup, just forgot about him) and I don't think carr was overpaid. I agree that he isn't a top flight corner, but in free agency not busting is a major win, and it looks like the cowboys didn't bust with carr (especially given his age). You ALWAYS overpay in free agency. On the other hand, the other team going after carr busted big time with cortland finnegan.
