I'm a NU fan too, though probably not as serious about it as Randy White, and I'm mixed on Prince as well. Sad to say, but NU corners have a long history of disappointing. (Anyone remember Keyou Craver? Some said he was better than Newman back then.) In fairness, though, for many years the Big 8/12 was a running conference and the corners never really got tested... That's obviously not the case anymore.
And many people have opined that Dennard can be as good as Prince or very close at the next level.
I have a feeling our #9 is going to be a OT or a front seven player on defense anyway.
I agree with you. I think Marcell Dareus is probably the guy Dallas would probably take, but he is probably going to be gone.
I think it's going to be one of three or four guys at number 9 that I think Dallas will pick from.
Tyron Smith OT USC
Cameron Jordan DE California
Robert Quinn OLB North Carolina
I know DE is an absolute mess, but how much longer can the Cowboys get by with their simultaneously aging and declining offensive line. There is a gaping hole at RT.
I think it will by Tyron Smith or Jordan or Quinn. Smith has big time upside (at LT), and I think that will be a factor in that decision. He could play RT as a rookie.
Bunting was on Vela's site today (Cowboys Nation) and stated that the scouts are not at a consensus on Amukamara, either. Bunting now has Jimmy Smith and Brandon Harris rated ahead of Amukamara. Bunting was at an All-Star game talking to scouts and listening to debates.
I think Amukamara will be there at 9, and Dallas will not pick him.
