  • Despite missing Tyron Smith in this game, I thought the first offensive line was outstanding --especially running the ball. Alfred Morris’ 15-yard touchdown run was as well-blocked a play as you will see. The line was able to combo block inside on the two tackles, securing them in place. Once secured, Travis Frederick and Zack Martin then released to the second level to capture the linebackers. Morris sticks his nose to the right, but then with vision, he sees that Chaz Green has worked Andre Branch up the field. Morris makes a hard cut to his right as Branch tries to retrace but can’t get there. Morris gets the final block from Dez Bryant on Byron Maxwell, which allows him to walk into the end zone.

  • Nobody on this defensive front works harder than Tyrone Crawford to attempt to create pressure. Crawford’s efforts paid off when he was able to defeat Jermon Bushrod one-on-one for a sack. Crawford was able to break Bushrod down right off the snap, which put the guard in an awful blocking position. Once Crawford felt Bushrod’s weight shift to his right foot, Crawford broke hard to the inside and directly at Ryan Tannehill. Seeing the pressure from Tyrone Crawford and feeling that same pressure from Jack Crawfordto his right, Tannehill tried to climb the front of the pocket, but he could not escape the strength of Tyrone Crawford -- who had him around the waist and Jack Crawford around the quarterback’s upper body.

  • The big play of the night for the Dolphins offense was a 55-yard pass from Ryan Tannehill to Kenny Stills. The formation was a “Bunch” look, with the tight end flexed in the bunch. At the snap, they went full-flow to the left, which caused the defense to have to react to the run. Tannehill wheeled to his right and got a key block by Jordan Cameron on Jack Crawford to get him to the outside. Dallas was in a Cover 2 look with the corners funneling everything to the middle of the field. The route by Stills was run to J.J. Wilcox’s side of the field, rather than Byron Jones’. Stills, in full sprint, was on top of Wilcox in a hurry. Wilcox hopped instead of turning and running to carry Stills -- who got past him easily. If the ball had been thrown to the inside, it would’ve been a touchdown, but it ended up on the outside and carried Stills out of bounds. It actually turned out to be a huge break, because seven plays later the Cowboys were able to hold on downs.

I don't see how "Tractor" Traylor makes the team. The Cowboys would have to trade someone.

If Hanna is still hurt, then Traylor can make the team. Also, if Traylor can do the FB duties as a TE then he has a good shot. I'd say the cards in his favor right now to land a job with the Cowboys, or with another team.

Personally I'd like to see the Cowboys move Escobar and keep Traylor. Witten is the best blocking TE on the current roster (with Hanna out) but who really wants to see him doing most of the blocking?

My ideal scenario is Dallas goes out and signs a real FB (they are out there, or will be after final cuts) and also keeps Witten, Swaim and Traylor. I think Hanna will sit the first six games.

It would be a mistake if the Cowboys failed to retain both Frazier and Traylor on the final 53. Frazier has displayed sound abilities to replace the horrible coverage issues that have plagued Wilcox since his draft selection.

Also, the Cowboys are sorely in need of a TE with blocking ability. Traylor is equally as skilled as Hanna was in that capacity, while Swaim isn't. Retaining both Frazier and Traylor on the active roster has become a need, mainly due to Wilcox's ineptness and Hanna's non availability.

Escobar has really improved his blocking, sealing the edge on a long Alf run and stalemating a DE on the long pass to Butler.I was real impressed with Traylor in camp, he was to Showers what Swaim was to Dak what Witten is to Romo. A reliable hands catcher when he needs somewhere to go with the ball.

Resigning Hanna is looking sillier. He's a decent player but he was replaceable by these young guys.

Hanna was signed long before Trayor, as an UDFA, and not knowing, and still don't know 100% how Swaim would do.
Hanna was signed because he is a good player. Also with Escobar's injury, it was needed to sign him. Or we could have drafted a TE in the 2nd round again...LOl...well, that may have been good, as we don't have use of our 2nd round pick anyway.

They want 3 TEs that can block, so extending Hanna made sense with Escobar's status up in the air and his contract up after the season.

I agree that Traylor's been a nice plus. He's the PS TE.

Agree about Traylor, PS at least for now. But neither Rod or Keith are standing out at FB either. And Frazier hasn't made my 53 yet, it will take more than a good play or two. Have not seen any WOW plays from him at all.

Yep, I'm not wasting a roster spot on a FB unless we have an actual difference maker at that position. Short of that guy in ATL, I'd rather just keep the RBs or the TEs. But Traylor's a guy you could use as your TE3 no trouble if you needed one. I like him a lot given where he came from.

I'd love to see Frazier actually earn a shot on this roster. If he keeps getting better, that's great. If not, I'm looking for a veteran S and a veteran swing OT at cut downs. Frazier has a shot, though. You'd like to see him earning some snaps earlier in these PS games.

FWIW, Swaim was the one who sealed the edge on the long pass to Butler.

You are correct, it was the throw to TWill on the sideline where Esco blocked a DE.

I understand what your saying but just curious who are your safeties?

I see Jones, Church and Heath as locks that leaves 1 spot for Wilcox or Frazier.

Do you have Wilcox over Frazier or just 3 safeties (which isn't a good idea)

Hanna is more than likely going to start the season on the PUP list. Traylor is the only TE with the level of blocking ability to replace him.
