Barr at 16? Just read he timed 4.4 40s last year for NFL scouts. Doubt he drops to us at 16, but if he did, that's the pick! He's gonna blow up the combine though and won't be there at 16.

Only had three picks in the Kiper Mock Draft, but getting

Lewan at #11 (scout's 8)
Verrett at #42 (scout's 30)
Mettenberger at #108 (scout's 69)

works for me :)

If Xavier S'ua-Filo was there for us in the 3rd round, that would be too sweet.

My guess is that a ton of people on this board would want Manziel at 16 if he was there. Getting him with no trade up, for some, would be too much to pass on.
I'd either take Barr or trade dwon to the 20s to grab Donald or someone else of value there.

There'd be mass hysteria amongst our fan base if Manziel was still there at 16.

I'd be popping Tums.

Don't think you have to worry about that happening. Some team is going to bite early.

1 for 5. .200

You better be a gold glover with that kind of batting average.

The Carr pick is when I fire up the DVR and catch up on Say Yes to the Dress.

FS Jimmie Ward at 52? That's a lot of value for us in the 2nd. Barr and Ward for our first 2 picks is simply too good to be true. If we did that I hope Hatcher is somehow re-signed, as this team could be ready.

This team is one pass rusher and a FS away from contending?

We saw the worst defense in team history because we were short two players?

Heck Easley is a nice option in the 3rd round for DE. If he can stay healthy

Ware would also need to get and stay healthy, Crawford would need to live up to his potential, Heath will have to been coached up on playing the ball, Bass would have to perform, Carter would have to recover from his sophomore slump, Lee would need to stay on field, Holloman would need to continue to grow into a solid LB, Wilber would need to continue to improve at SAM, all the corners would need to be utilized better with their skill sets, etc.

All that is possible. Fan bias of course.

Gotta love the NFL for quick turn-arounds.

I'll take it by your Heath and Bass mentions that you are conceding.

Carr in the 5th round is solid value.
Henderson is good value in the 4th. Starts in 2015 when Free is let go.
I'm a Sutton fan so there is some bias there.
Bucannon is better than anything we have at Safety although I realize that's like being the tallest midget.

Two of the most underrated guys on the roster. You heard it here first. But even if they don't play up to their raw skills, they are depth at FS and 1 tech. Heath is very good on special teams. Ward should be a starter at FS, and while I don't prefer Hayden, he can get the job done at 1 tech and then you could swing Crawford to the 1 tech in the nickel, putting Ware, Selvie, Crawford and Hatcher as the pass rush. That's not bad, man.

Obviously I'm not happy with Heath at FS otherwise I would not want to draft Ward. I like the value there in the 2nd round. We've also got Wilcox and Johnson who could provide depth there ahead of Heath. I just think Heath can improve and it's too early to write him off. There is some raw speed there that could lead to good things.

With Bass, I think this article backs up the assertion that he could be good for us on the DL next season:

Bass earned praise from defensive line coach Rod Marinelli this off-season. Bass’ versatility likely already has earned him a job.

He has spent most of his time at defensive tackle, where Jay Ratliff is expected to miss another two weeks with a hamstring injury. Bass practiced at defensive end only four plays Monday before being moved there for Tuesday and Wednesday’s practices.

“Oh man, I thought he had a really good OTAs, and I think he’s a big, good-looking athlete,” Marinelli said. “He’s a guy who can move. What you try to do is create position flexibility, so he’s worked inside. I like him inside. I’m looking at him at some end.

“For now, he gives you a big 290-pound left end you can use in the run game. You’ve got to be careful with that approach and not give him too many things to do. You want to make him good first and then adjust. This was an opportunity to give him some work and see how he looks out there.”

Bass’ rise from rookie minicamp invitee to the first team has starting defensive tackle Jason Hatcher looking over his shoulder.

“He’s going to be the reason I’m playing for a different team next year,” said Hatcher, in the final year of a three-year, $6 million deal. “He’s coming on. He’s coming on. I’ve just got to keep my job secure and play my butt off.”

Lets be honest with ourselves for once.....if somehow things were changed and an Eagles/Commanders fan was telling you how Jeff Heath, Ben Bass, Nick Hayden, and George Selvie were going to be key parts of their defensive turnaround you would laugh directly in their face and call them an idiot. Just because a player is on your favorite team it doesn't automatically make them good and a lot of people here seem to struggle with that. And you can add the likes of Kyle Wilber and Davonte Holloman to that list.
