what did I say?

DOES IT FOR A FULL SEASON.

Which I would like to think makes it obvious you cannot disappear for games at a time....

and still be called the real deal
Ummmm, and you DO REMEMBER (how you like them caps) that Collins broke his foot last year in OTA's and missed most of training camp right, and pre-season games ? So obviously took alittle bit to get him going. I think he surpassed what people thought he could achieve given the injury start.
No one is saying he is all-world - yet. But by most peoples metrics, the biggest leap in players is from year 1 to year 2, and he gets to partake of a full training camp this year. That's HUGE...
While I doubt Collins will be the "Warren Sapp" some might be suggesting, his arrow is most definitely pointing up. And I think he will lock down the 3-tech position for us for many years to come.
Your critique of him seems a little off ... JMO.

I don't know "what you said". If you think that Malik Collins "disappeared for games at a time", its obvious that your eyesight isn't very good. He's as "real" as it gets for this team's defensive line and is already the best, more reliable option they have.

Anybody trying to question him should be questioned themselves.

to me 'the real deal' is not someone that for 9 of 16 games had either zero or one tackle, etc.

Ok, opinions vary I guess. I think Collins is this team's most sure thing they have on the defensive line and his rookie season was amazing and only overshadowed by the seasons that Dak and Zeke had.

if Collins is our most sure thing we really are in trouble

Welp if Collins can give Zack Martin trouble, he should be able to give anybody trouble.

Even more good news about Maliek Collins:

Bryan Broaddus: The Cowboys D-lineman who's strong enough to give even Zack Martin some problems - SportsDay Staff

Who on the D-line has been able to give RG Zack Martin some problems?

Broaddus: "Well, to me, the one guy that has the power to do it -- and if you're gonna play Zack Martin, you've gotta be able to have that power, because if he gets his hands inside on you, you're dead -- but Maliek Collins, I keep talking about him, because I love the combination of what he's able to do inside to play as that 1-technique, inside shade of the center off the center's shoulder, or to the play the 3-[tech], the outside shade of the guard. I like what he's able to do inside there and cause some problems with his power, with his quickness. Good battles to watch. I know it's not pads, but these guys, to beat somebody, you're gonna have to come with power and you're gonna have to come with some technique, and he's the one guy that can kind of get Zack Martin off balance when he gets his hands inside. And he was able to do that a couple of different times [Wednesday], but it's nice to see those two guys just battle in there."

Maliek Collins, DT, Cowboys
Collins burst onto the scene in the second half of the season, recording five sacks in his final nine games, including two against the Browns. He’s exactly what the Cowboys are looking for in a 3-technique, showing the ability to get after the quarterback and stop the run up the middle.

With Dallas still shifting around its defensive line and trying to find the best combination, Collins will remain a cog on every down. He’s the type of player that Rod Marinelli will have a hard time taking off the field, especially on sub-packages when the Cowboys go smaller up front.

He could wind up leading the team in sacks, considering the overall lack of talent Dallas has at defensive end. That’s not necessarily a good sign for the rest of the team, but Marinelli would be thrilled if that were to happen.
