As high as you have ever seen? You mean like since last years draft?
Every year the best player in college football gets a 99-100. Last year it was Calvin Johnson. The year before it was Reggie Bush etc etc

Any two of these six in the first round would work just fine for me, and if the Scout rating system isn't too off the mark, all six could well still be on the board when the Boys pick... there's two cornerbacks, two wide receivers and two running backs for the Boys to pick from...

The running back choice is interesting to me, and assumes that Marion Barber will be back, but not Julius Jones... so if you're looking for a backup for Barber, do you want a back with a similar running style, so that if the starter gets hurt, the team won't have to change the offense too much, or do you want a back who can give you a few plays a game, and give defenses a different look??

If you want the Barber-esque back, go with Stewart, if you want a change of pace, go with the more elusive Jones, who'd also give you a viable option in the return game...

My favorite of the bunch is Sweed, and not just because I'm a Horns fan... I think he's gonna be a better pro receiver than he was a college receiver... I swear I see some Michael Irvin in him...

Sweed will not go in the first 2 rounds. He's not an NFL caliber receiver.

I wouldn't quite go as far out there as you, but I do tend to agree that I don't know what people see in him other than us being in Longhorns country. I can think of SEVERAL better wideouts than him. Even so, I see him getting picked between the 25-50 range.

Longhornitis strikes again.

OK, put your sig where your mouth is-- if Sweed goes in the first two rounds, you wear a "Limas Sweed Fan Club President" title until the start of the regular season... if he doesn't, I wear something like "Horns Homer" (or you can pick something along those lines) for the same time...

If Limas runs a sub-4.5 40 at the combines or at his Pro Day workout, he's a surefire first rounder... I'm confident that he'll do exactly that, to the point that this is the first such bet I've EVER suggested... I like being the "Semi-Offical Loose Cannon"...

Bear,

How "quick" is Sweed in and out of his cuts?

Also, how would you rate his separation speed and his hands?

Thanks.

If he runs a sub 4.5, for sure he'll go in the first two rounds. He might even work himself into the late first round. But I very seriously doubt he does that. He just doesn't have straight line speed. My guess is he runs closer to 4.6 than 4.5.

I'm not willing to bet he won't be taken in the first 2 rounds because there are idiot GMs that do all sorts of stupid things (e.g., Ted Ginn at #9 overall). And typically the first couple of tiers of WRs go in the first two rounds. He's not a first two rounds talent, though.

Antoine Cason not in the top 32?

Maybe we can get him with our pick at 32 then. :)

You really need to do your homework, theogt... coming out of high school, according to his bio on the UT website, he:

placed fourth in the 110m hurdles (14.10) at the 2003 Texas 4A track & field meet … finished sixth as a junior (14.34) …

I rather doubt that any 4.6 40 type could put up those kinds of numbers in that event... that speaks directly to straight line speed, I think...

So does his average per TD catch over his college career, which is over 30 yards (on 23 TD catches)... he's also averaged 15.5 yards per catch for his 143 career receptions... again, generally speaking a 4.6 receiver is a "possession" receiver, and those are not the stats you expect from a pure possession receiver...

Sweed's a good deal faster than you think he is...

A good bit of his catches are deep balls in which he can use his size as a significant advantage. From what I've seen he rarely creates separation by speed. He's always blanketed by the corner (and in college that's a not a good sign as most college corners are terrible).

From what I've seen, he's faster than you claim... which is why I'm so confident that he'll run in the 4.4s in the offseason...

Besides, if you were totally right, that just means the guy can use his body to get open downfield... and I don't much care how you get open downfield, if you do it with speed or if you do it with your body, so long as you can get open downfield...

I mean, Michael Irvin wasn't exactly a burner... Keyshawn Johnson had a pretty fair NFL career using his big body, too...

I tend to agree with your statement, problem is he reminds me alot of Micheal Jenkins from Ohio State who shocked everyone with a sub 4.4 forty. I'm not saying he's going to do that I think he's a 4.5-6 guy personally. I think a player like Malcolm Kelly gets a ton of separation down the field, that I have never seen Sweed do. I guess the proof will be in the stopwatch.

Maybe he can. But most tall, slowish receivers just don't do well in the NFL. I'd play the odds here, and the odds are he won't ever do much in the NFL.

Irvin was fast. The notion that he was slow is completely overrated. He came along at a time when players didn't perfect their 40 time like they do now. In just a matter of a few weeks a player cna go from 4.6s to 4.4s with proper training.

But you could watch the guy on field and tell he was fast ... and quick.

Key was a very good possession WR who stuck his helmet in there in support of running plays. His type is a good complement to a burner like Glenn.

give me either/or, Stewart also gives you a viable return option too, although he would be a better kick returner than punt returner, and we already have Austin for that

those 2 are 1b. and 1c. in my eyes

and I'd take Malcolm Kelly over Sweed, that dude is a deep-threat

Again, I reject categorically your assertion that he's not fast... I have laid out the reasons why I reject that assertion...

Irvin was fast.

And Sweed is every bit as fast, if not faster...
