Scrap Americas Team

People can call the Cowboys whatever they want, I call them my team and it has been that way since 1965. Threads like this are really a joke some poor pathetic slob is upset about the team so they post this garbage? Hell go find a team you can be proud of evidently this team is not something you can support.

The original nickname of the Cowboys should come back "Next Years Team" seems more fitting to be honest.

Well, then why don't you guys make the site private, and charge anyone who wants to be part of it a monthly fee?

See how well that works out for you. I think you guys are being way too melodramatic, and I think you guys actually like it, because then you can all complain. It allows you all to pretend you are superior human beings to those who get upset, are sarcastic, or expect more from the team.

Either that or maybe you shouldn't be a moderator since it appears to be so stressful for you.

You know what's funny..there are some posters on here that just nut swing on eachother all the time. brown nosing all day to be cool.

I say what i want when I want and I dont care if it's not part of the trend. You can add me to the ignore list if you wish. Then one day you so called upper class posters can just have a perfect little Forum. A Place where everybody agrees with you.

Poor guys are so mistreated on the big mean DALLAS COWBOYS forum.

You guys have every right to cry as much as you want ...... and we have the right to laugh about it ..... funny how freedom of expression works huh?

Actually the site is private. We don't advertise it anywhere. All of you are here by word of mouth and welcome.

Nearing 23,000 members and the biggest Cowboys site on the Internet, it seems to be working out fine for us. This is the best place in the world to get Dallas Cowboys news.

No one is a superior human being. No one thinks that. That's all hyperbole for the sake of the drama you just accused us of.

Either that or maybe you shouldn't be a moderator since it appears to be so stressful for you.
I tried to quit a couple of years ago.

It isn't stressful really. I just hate that people can't separate actual Moderation (which is done in private) from opinions in threads. More annoying than stressful. Kind of like beach sand in your swim trunks.

I move to reopen the voting for this award. All in favor?

No offense but as useless as this particular thread was, it clearly got the response out of it that the OP wanted, there isn't anything in this post, or any of his others that I recall, that could possibly make him worse than Judas as a poster.

I'd really like for someone to point out where anyone proclaimed themselves a superior human being simply because they laughed at such a stupid thread topic.

Should we as fans not be allowed to critique? Should we be allowed to post only "rah-rah" stuff and nothing else?

Absolutely you can. I'd just like to see some more actual, merited, and thought out critique rather than something like..."We should be next years team not America's Team".

Ok....fantastic. That's not a critique it's a whinning post but one that got exactly what the OP wanted. It got people mocking him and giving him attention. He got exactly what he wanted out of that post.

YAY! Another internet bad *** here to tell us all how hard he is because he hates when people laugh at some of the silly stuff posted on this forum.

Wake up bro. If it's something that has merit, rather people agree with it or not, they don't just laugh at a person they get into a discussion with them about it. This had nothing but "Please make fun of me for my stupid post" written all over it.

The OP got what he wanted to congrats to him for it.

Exactly. No one said people can't cry all they want, or make any outlandish claims they want. You just have to be willing to do so knowing you're going to have people who laugh at you.

Just like anyone who posts they're a Romo supporter, or a Jerry Jones supporter, is likely to find plenty of posters who will laugh at them for that support.

It all goes hand in hand.

OUCH. Slapped down any silly notions right there.

Next Years Champs...Its officially back.
The classic Madden NFL Football video game mentality assumes that a fan's favorite team will win it all every season or every other season or every third season, etc. Reality dictates that will never happen and has never happened in any professional team sport. Ever.

However, if a fan feels motivated enough to smear their favorite team's nickname simply because they're not being realistic, what harm is there in that? Does it matter that such a thing flies in the face of the team's popularity--both domestically and internationally?

To some, the answer is no.

Does it matter that other teams' fans demonstrate less fickleness? Does it matter that Packers' fans haven't witnessed a championship in years, yet they do not appear to malign their club's nickname of Titletown? Or that Bears' fans do not wish to sully their nickname of Monsters of the Midway, even though their domination of their division has been fleeting at best over the past twenty years? Etc., etc.?

To even lesser numbers of folks, the answer is still no.

In the end, it's far easier to ridicule a nickname rather than it is to ridicule a player or a coach or a general manager or an owner. Those who many have some bearing on the successes and/or failures of their favorite team. Why? Because if one is motivated enough to unrealistically complain about anything, what exactly is off limits? What could be described as 'out of bounds'?

Nothing I guess. Nada. Zlitch.

So here's a possible future thread idea which fits perfectly within that classic Madden NFL Football video game mentality:

Scrap the STAR. The team hasn't been much of a star of anything lately anyway... right?

I actually am better than all of you.

BOW BEFORE FOUR!!!

I am this year, next year and every year after that's champ!

And get a new avatar? Too much work...

Besides, we can always throw the "America's Team" moniker in the faces of opposing fans. It accounts for half of my trash talking material.

My buddy David is a Steelers fan, and him and I argue about the "America's Team" moniker on a regular basis. He's got a conspiracy theory as to the origin--he swears that the Steelers are America's *real" team... but they are to "humble" to call themselves that.

I find it funny that a Steelers fan would even use their team name and the word "humble" in the same sentence. Steelers fans are the biggest babies and glory hounds that I have ever had the pleasure of facing off against... there is nothing humble about Pittsburgh.
