SEAHAWKS SLICE WISTROM

Adam Schefter of the NFL Network reports that the Seattle Seahawks have cut defensive end Grant Wistrom, only days after signing defensive end Patrick Kerney.

The move means that Kerney and Bryce Fisher will enter the season as the starting defensive ends.

Wistrom received in three years ago a grossly puffed up deal to join the Seahawks, which included $14 million in guaranteed money. The move will be processed as a June 2 cut, so that the cap acceleration will be spread over two years.

Bad knees. He's just about washed up now. I expect him to be a Commander by the weekend.

Funny that the first team that came to mind when I read this was Washington.

Maybe Adam can enlighten us as to how this works. Cut in March, processed in June. Hmmm.....creative accounting at it's finest.

What's interesting is that Wistrom is from the same class as Ellis. He seems to be the guy most folks compare Ellis to. And now he's about to go to his 3rd team.

Don't know why. Just thought of that when I saw this thread.

I thought of the same thing. They both came out in the same draft, and it seems Wistrom was more highly regarded around the league than Ellis...But as you said, he is on his way to a 3rd team while Ellis has been steady with one team. I wouldnt have traded Ellis for Wistrom at any point in there careers.

I remember the chat room when we took Ellis. First it was, we passed on Moss? Then it was, wait a minute we went DE and passed on Wistrom?

He's probably getting older, and isn't as effective as he once was. Darn, I thought I was the only one who got older.

I don't think we passed on Wistrom. He was selected ahead of Ellis prior to us picking.

im still trying to figure out how eeeryone keeps crying about us passing on Moss, and how huge a mistake it was

if it was so huge then why with the 8th pick, he dropped to the 22, obviously 14 other teams, thougt the same thing we did. Some fans just ......... insert word here

From the nerve center of Cowboy analysis and accurate and true commentary, Air America Cowboys in Farmers Branch where civil liberties are a hobby and libraries and museums are just frills.

Wistrom was good last year from what I saw. Aggressive and motor was always running.
Jerra has never met a "big name" he could resist.
You heard it here first.
