This is the true face of free agency, you see these unreasonable contracts on paper but the reality is if a 28 year old athlete signs a 6 or seven year deal he'll likely only see about 3 to 4 years of it. Once he's 32 or 33 and about to make almost 10 million dollars they are let go.

Wistrom was good last year from what I saw. Aggressive and motor was always running.
Jerra has never met a "big name" he could resist.
You heard it here first.

That is the way Wistrom plays, but it does not mean that he is still effective. He suffered with nagging injuries last season and in the Hawks games I watched, they were pulling him off the field in obvious passing situtations.

WISTROM DONE?

The talk in league circles in the immediate wake of the release of defensive end Grant Wistrom by the Seahawks is that Wistrom is done.

Physically, the belief is that he's shot. In fact, there are concerns that he would not be able to pass a physical. There also are concerns regarding whether Wistrom even has the desire to play.

With that said, Wistrom started in all 18 regular-season and playoff games last season.

Wistrom, a nine-year veteran, had 11.5 sacks in three seasons with the Seahawks. And he received $14 million in guaranteed money.

Hey, in some cities, that's worth another $12 million up front.

Ellis and Winstroms careers are just about equal IMO and Winstrom was drafted a few spots in front of Ellis. I think overall Ellis was the better player but probably because I am a Cowboy fan.

That is why I think those who say Ellis is an underacheiver are a little bit out of touch with reality. He was not drafted #1 or 2 like a guy like Peppers or Williams who are expected to be game changers. That is why those first few spots are given such a high value. Ellis for where he was drafted I think has had a very successful career and done a very good job.
