Seahawks were built the same way we were. my long-winded thoughts

So last year you are telling me you had issues determining if our linebacker room was void of talent?
No. I’m saying trying to compare talent is difficult when you start comparing the more difficult aspects in talent evaluation. The talent to throw out front of a moving receiver on multiple routes is more nuanced evaluation. Or what’s the percentage of plays where a receiver is forced to slow or stop the route depending on which route is run? Or how those are affected when there is tighter coverage and in higher pressure games?

For edge defenders-what percentage of plays do they recognize a screen play on their side and react in time to affect the play? Saying the Seahawks team and Dallas have equivalent talent after two consecutive 7 win seasons is just for optimistic fantasy. I should not get involved in these debates because the people I engage with are clearly okay saying ridiculous stuff like the Cowboys and Seahawks are very similarly built-when the process is clearly different. Then the argument becomes the talent comparison. However, the team makeup, scheme, and general player to player comparison is far more complex than this guy threw for 4k yards vs the guy that threw for 4.5k. This guy threw for 30 tds and this one for 25. This DE got 10 sacks, etc.

Since this is more about the OP enjoying some fantasy about how similar the Cowboys and Seahawks are, I’ll leave you guys to enjoy self delusion.

You’re making this far more difficult than it is. No one is saying you have to know exactly how bad or good someone is. But you have an idea. You know Kenneth Murray is not as good as Fred Warner. You know you’re just being defiant with the OP lol. No one is arguing if the Cowboys and Seahawks have exactly the same talent. But you have an idea of what both teams are. And no you don’t have to be a GM to know.

It is too early for any SB talk.
Maybe in 27.

Dallas just got way better , but so have the giants. The div overall will be tougher.

No, you and the OP are attempting to make the comparison between the Cowboys and Seahawks absurdly simple. The OP would like to proclaim that the difference between the Cowboys and Seahawks is not so vast that a run to the SB is not that improbable. I of course cannot predict the future, but I can see probability issues with the OP statements. The OP does a few comparisons of players, focusing on star players mostly. They talk about the structure of the team, the head coach (and the lack of prior experience), the QB salary comparison, and free agent pickups culminating in the basic message of “Cowboys put together pretty similarly as the Seahawks.”

I said the teams were put together much differently and gave a few examples why. Then the argument devolved into talent pretty similar between both teams. If you want to state that because some cherry picked players have similar statistics which proves that they are similar in talent go for it. The OP is already making indirect comparisons to Witherspoon and Downs. It’s silly and fantasy, but carry on.

Funny thing is….their prized free agent was Demarcus Lawrence. I have a strong suspicion you were one of the ones who wanted him out of here no?

By the way, your post was worthy of being it's own thread.

Blitzen dude.... you need to let this go. You're getting way too pressed and keyed in on this.

All I'm saying is... if their most prized asset of their free agent period was DeMarcus Lawrence, and they won a Super Bowl. We theoretically can too. Theoretically being the very very operative word. And I get that we have Jerry Jones.

And I still don't get your argument other than the fact that their players were acquired via draft picks from the Russell Wilson trade. Still wondering why that bit matters.

I think the Seahawks benefitted from a few teams having down years. Don't get me wrong, they were a very strong team in 2025. But teams like the 49ers, Chiefs, Rams, Lions and Eagles all fell off from their prior seasons giving the Seahawks a chance to win it all. I will give them credit for how hard they played every week. It's tough to do that for 17 weeks then the playoffs.

Seattle Seahawks
2023 - 9-8
2024 - 10-7
2025 - 14-3

Dallas Cowboys
2023 - 12-5
2024 - 7-10
2025 - 7-9-1

They are exactly the same! The trajectory is identical.
