Sean Lee Video

an upgrade over carp is all we're after.
and not getting "trucked" like carp is what i'm looking for.

I like Dez a lot.

But Sean Lean is by far my favorite pick of this years draft.

I wasn't impressed with those 9 minutes. Nothing he did in those 9 minutes jumped out and shouted best LB in the draft to me. And if he wasn't circled in the video, no one would have noticed him imo.

I'm not knocking him. I just didn't see spectacular in that video.

It would be nice to see some of Carpenter's college highlight reel and compare the two.

Tashard Choice said he was impressed with Lee in the OTAs. That's very encouraging to me.

He looks versatile enough to play the nickel.

I agree. Everyone is saying the right things about him and people are saying he has ability and everything.

But I like to form my own opinion and so far im just not overly impressed based on the very little I have seen.

Hopefully in Pre-season some of these things that everyone talks about start to show up.

I just feel like you have to be a complete BA to be rated as a top 15 player in a draft as a MLB.

I'm not concerned that Lee isn't a huge hitter (he isn't). I just hope when he gets a running back in his scope and in his range--that he puts him down right now.

Well he sheds blocks, holds the point of attack, changes directions well, has a bit of burst going upfield, wraps up well when tackling and doesn't get fooled.

That makes me say wow especially after Carpenter in the run game.

In 2005, he had 115 tackles, 3.5 sacks and 4 INTs.

In 2004, he had 102 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 3 INTs.

In 2001, he had 127 tackles, 3.5 sacks and 2 INTs.

I'm pretty sure he meant last year's stats.

My biggest concern about Lee is his size and his upper body and hand strength.

But it's perhaps easier to build strength there. The draft pundits report he has powerful legs, hip, torso.

Right. The video does a good job of showing just that.

I hope his knees hold up.

I saw a lot of a guy being either run out of the play or not even being close to being in on the play. There were a few here and there, but not a lot. Was this supposed to be a highlight video, or just a video of random plays?

Sean Lee is going to be the guy who tackles a ball carrier/receiver after 3 yards on a 3rd and 5.

And then Dez gets to return the punt.

That's a 'wow' play to me.

Actually, stopping someone on third down is 'wow' enough for me.

That's where I was going.

If you don't have guys like Lee who just 'do work' your team will not get opportunities for the wow plays very often because they are rare in games.

By the way.

Tomorrow at 6:30pm est. Channel 610, Big Ten Network.

Penn State vs Michigan State.

Lee has seven tackles in this game and has a key INT in the third quarter which basically clinches the win for PS. The score was 28-7 at that point and Mich State was trying to put together a drive to get back into the game.

They start at their 20 and get something going, but Lee pick it at the PS 44 and they they drive it the other way for seven to make it 35-7. Game over.

The thing that was interesting to me is how often one of the OL immediately releases to try and block Lee - the opposition obviously put a very high priority on getting him blocked.

Really? I think it's mixed results in the video. Obviously the guy isn't bad. I'm not saying that, but I don't see "top 15" pick type of work there. I'd say in the video you see "competent" play.

Because we can all learn so much about a player from youtube scouting.

Why not? It's a video compilation of plays. You can't learn everything, but if a person can't learn something from it, maybe that's because they don't know what to look for.

I think you can say a lot after seeing the film on him. He's a solid player. I don't see top 15 talent either. I see a solid but not spectacular LB. He will get a chance to blitz some from the Mo. So you may see some big plays from him time to time. In the interim you'll see him do his job.

I'm happy with the pick. He'll be on the job here for a long time. Probably as early as next year. 2012 at the worst.

First of all, Lee is not comparable at this point to Rolando McClain. Could he be one day? That remains to be seen. Rolando McClain is a Ray Lewis. Lee is a Keith Brooking. Lewis and Brooking are not comparable really.

Some guys are spectacular. Some are steady. The second describes Sean Lee. This is a guy who is absolutely driven to come out on top. While athletic, he is not the physical freak kind of athlete that say a Patrick Willis is. He's not the huge bull that a Brian Urlacher is. He will make reads at incredible speed because he lives the game.

What he is mostly, is a pure football player. Someone who hates to lose. Someone to whom the idea of getting beat is so abhorrent that he pushes himself to fanatical levels. He is an Emmitt Smith at LB instead of a Barry Sanders. Someone who plays with heart. It cannot be measured.

ILBs and MLBs rarely are glamour positions. There are obviously exceptions to this. Often though what you find is a guy who while not exactly get out of your chair great, is simply a catalyst for the entire team. Keith Brooking is the immediate example I think of. Guys will feed off of Sean Lee the same way they feed off of Brooking. He is a natural. It is rare.

Had he not had the knee injury in 2008 this guy was a top 15 player. In 2008 when he got hurt he immediately injected himself into coaching Penn State football as a student. In 2009 he got hurt. If not for that injury he was still a 1st round pick.

Joe Paterno knows a thing or two about LBs. He compares Lee to Jack Ham. Now if you watch the Steelers in their heyday you undoubtedly saw the absolute aggression of Jack Lambert. Ham may very well have been the better overall football player. The guy flat out was always there for big games, little games, and in between games.

I'll take that.

just great post.

I admit it could just be a bad video of the guy.

I saw a Penn State fan say they were going to make a Sean Lee highlight video and put it on youtube. Maybe they couldn't find enough film?

And I'd say those bigger ol's had a hard time keeping him out of the play whereas barbie gets completely blown out. He shed some blocks and got in on some decent plays, I see potential...
