Sean Lee has always been one of my favorite Cowboys. Was just such a great football player when he was healthy. Instinctive, athletic, disciplined, playmaker, great tackler, could run with the best of them, didn't miss assignments, and just a joy to watch.

It's clear though this season some of his injuries have taken a toll on him. He hasn't been the same player. He's missed tackles he ordinarily makes. Overran plays. Been trucked at the second level. Now he has another concussion. His second of the season.

At some point he has to realize his body just can't hold up. As great as he has been when healthy some guys just can't hold up in this league. Retire Sean before you cause long term damage to yourself. I think he'd make an excellent linebackers coach for the Cowboys. He's always been an outstanding leader and somebody that players can aspire to be like as far as his character and how he approaches the game of football.

As I saw him take yet another blow to the head I said the same. the guy is made of glass and cant stand of the vigor on an NFL season. now the concussions are starting to pile up. He may seriously need to start thinking about making a career decision. Walk away from the game with your health while you still can. He doesn't even like the same player anymore

Sean Lee is still our best LB... If anybody should retire after last nights game it's McClain... Plus it was really as much McClain's fault for Lee getting injured... Lee was doing his job, you know actually making a tackle, when he collided with McClain who was basically just standing around out there, probably because he's as out of shape as he looks...

I don't know he's had a couple of concussions this season, but other than that's he's held up okay... I mean what do you expect, you saw the blow he took to the head, that would have concussed just about anybody... Now if the concussions continue to mount, then we have a real problem, but I don't see what happened tonight as being a good example of him being made of glass...

Wrong. I think this refers to ALL the injuries he's had over his entire career, including multiple knee injuries going back to Penn State. The main reason he was still there at that point in the draft.

He got hit in the head by a teammate. He has a concussion. He had one in week 4, but didn't miss any time according to rotoworld.

Romo needs to be sat down for the remainder and Lee needs to be put down. I think he gets a concussion every time a strong wind gust hits him.....

Romo is just as injury prone as Lee (he's had his share). If Lee should retire, then should Romo.

Coincidence or not?

Something similar happened when he went out for a while in the Falcons game and Saints game. Wish he was made of whatever Favre was.

What about it supposed to be coincidence? Lee is arguably the best linebacker in the game when healthy. And not just that, he's the face of this defense, the heart & soul. Of course if you take him out these guys don't know what to do, panic and so on.

I'm not at the point yet where I want Sean to retire. There are guys who have suffered 10-15 concussions still playing the game. But if he returns this season and suffers another concussion he should seriously think about it. If not he should continue. If he suffers 2+ concussions next year he should retire. But overall we're not there yet, at a point where you just ask him to retire or expect him to retire. He's not gonna do it. He's in his prime, he's not just gonna walk away from the game because of a concussion.

Not sure about that. Other players suddenly retire who have had head trauma over and over again. If a player is smart (and Lee is insanely smart), he might decide not having migraine headaches for the rest of his life is a price he doesn't want to pay. Long term health affects are a reality for most. Look at former players like Aikman and Dorsett for the Cowboys. They will tell you being concussed is a long term problem. I don't think he will retire mid season, but I can see it being something he looks at this off season for sure.

I said this a few years back, Lee's body was not made for the brutality of the NFL. Seriously, there are just guys who's body isn't made for this degree of abuse.

That's why you lift weights, no?

I fear we have too many players that lack football smarts on D. They have good measureables but nothing between the ears. Lee is the glue that holds them together. remove him and they fall off.
