This year started full of promise for just about every Cowboys fan on the planet. Then came the FA process and nothing was done, people said ok we still have the draft. The draft came and The Cowboys got Dez Bryant, everybody rejoiced then it seemed like they didnt have a plan of what to do after. Pick after pick they left us fans scratching our heads. The secondary was neglected with high picks, and the OL was neglected what seems like for a decade. But it still seemed like Dallas was ready to take the next step.
Training camp was a disaster and so was the preseason. But everybody said ok its preseason, but was it just preseason or was it the teams inability to produce a winner? Was it the organization a whole ego that thought we’re the Cowboys we belong in the Super Bowl?

After 12 weeks of football the Cowboys are 3-8. The season is over and for the 2nd time in 12 weeks my heart is broken, because today I’ve come to terms that this wont be the year i see the Cowboys in the Super Bowl.

Had this season been over but i was just trying to lie to myself in thinking they couldve still made it? But seriously this team of overpriced overrated deadbeats needs some soul searching. Players like Newman, Roy, Gurode, Jenkins, Romo, Austin, Ware, James, Witten need to find themselves. The team cant just fire their HC everytime they need a spark. How can a team with this many stars be lead by a 38 yr old QB, and a rookie WR. That just disgusting to see as a fan.

Its clear the problem of this team is the defense. That needs to be taken apart. From the DL to the secondary.

DL: Ratliff is a very good NT, but he’d be a monster and virtually unstopable as a Dt in a 4-3. A front line of Ware, Ratliff, Bowen, and Spencer would dominate. Add Backups like Spears, Igor,Butler and Hatcher. thats a Very good rotation. Heres the kicker, Ware rushing the passer on everydown is greater then seeing him on the sidelines on 3rd downs as we see him now. In what universe is it ok to take Ware off the field on 3rd down? Spencer is a DE plain and simple. He cant cover, or cant contain the edge as a LB. His instincts are to rush.

LB: This IMO is what makes the secondary look so bad. James is a warrior but he couldnt cover a punter. Brookings is the same other then a couple deflections hes had this yr. Ware and spencer have already been mentioned. Other then that Dallas has nothing. Sean Lee is a joke. Has there ever been a LB so unathletic in the nfl? This unit would need a major overhaul if it was to switch to a 4-3.

Secondary: If they could I would say get rid of them all. But since you cant, Newman, Jenkins, Scandrick, McCann stay. I seriously think its time to extend Newmans yrs in the NFL and have him make the move that extended the careers of Ronnie Lott and Rod Woodson. Switch to S. Newman simply cant cover the long ball anymore. Watching Newman try to defend a double move is more irritating then a Wade Phillips PC.

The offense isnt perfect but its not broke. The obvious is they need some work on the OL. But Dallas needs to find out what they want to do at RB. Barber is a lost cause. Only time he shows up is when Choice starts to take his carries and touchdowns.
First OL. Dallas needs 1 starter and some backups. Either a new RG or a new RT. the rest of the line is fine. IMO RG is the way to go. Dallas needs some guys who can step in for depth.

Im starting to like Garrett as a coach but what im not liking is the game planning. Decide what you waqnt to do and stick to it. Decide on a RB is the biggest gripe i have.

Lastly its a shame this season has gone to hell so fast but it is what it is. Root for the Cowboys and when the seasons over hope there isnt a lockout. Cause if there is it will be long. This isnt 87 when teams were barely staying afloat. Owners will still be making money. The worst thing that can hapen is the players cave in and sign something that will bring us back to this situation in another 3 yrs.

For every valid point you made you made three ludicrous statements.

Bagging on Sean Lee??? All the guy does is make plays! What planet are you on, dude?

You lost all credability with that!

I agree with the consensus on here. The season was over weeks ago. They kept piling up loss after loss and then the players just flat out quit.

At least they're playing some ball now and I'd use the games left to figure out who will be a Cowboy in the future and who won't.

I'm not as down on Lee as the Original Poster, but you people sound as if Sean Lee is the second coming. He has the potential to be an above average ballplayer, but there were better players at more crucial positions available at that point in the draft.

The reality is, we should have drafted an offensive linemen at the spot we drafted Lee. There were still several very talented linemen available. Considering where our offensive line is now and how it has affected our season, it really hurt us that we didn't draft a lineman there. Well, it has really hurt us that we haven't spent a high draft pick on an Olineman in years and years.

I had on the national radio feed for the game while doing some work online and the guys on there were saying the Cowboys had never replaced Carpenter (of all players) and how much they missed him on certain defensive packages.

That blew my mind.

So you suggest drafting for need and ignoring their board?

I wonder if the Rams have been able to fill the vital contributions he made to their squad.

Ditton on Brooking and James.

I cannot agree re Lee.

But, trust me. Jason is smart. This offseason he will unload the Brookings and the Roys and lethargic secondary peeps.

He will clean house and field a younger, more focused team.

From you post to g-ds eyes cause this is a rotten bunch of players and If you think loading up on FA is the answer just ask that shrimp owner in washington if that works

oh so sorry. Had to stop laughing at some of the responses. But frankly your main post is full of it. will not happen and should not happen. the 3-4 is here to stay for good reasons.

if lee was anything he wouldve replaced brooking a long time ago. because he has been horrible this yr.
