I think Dallas will win a few games with Romo but i also think theyll be in the 7-10 range drafting unless something dramatic changes. But with this mock ill say nothing changes and romo struggles. drafting 7

RD1 trade down to 10 with SF picking up a 3.
Myles Jack LB UCLA
People are going to say no ACL. Screw that this guy is a huge talent. And he got hurt really early so he will be ready for the offseason. Word is he's recovering really good. With McClain showing his colors and Lee still injury prone its time to bring in a big talent. Jack at the SAM| Hitchens inside| Lee at the WILL. Dallas has been trying to get that LBer in the first round. They loved Shazier. Were already on the phone with him too.

RD2
Nate Andrews S FSU
Dallas needs to bring in a safety who can cover. Wilcox is bad in every aspect of the game except hitting when the player is unsuspecting or already in somebodies wrap up. And Church has hit his ceiling. church can tackle and is good in the box but is bad in coverage.

RD3
Braxton Miller WR Ohio State
Playmaker who wont start right away but will be on the field. And could be that returner this team lost in Harris. MIller is exciting and is the type of player that will catch this teams attention.

RD3(SF)
Carson Wentz QB NDS
Small school guy who is smart and can play. He just seems like the type of guy Garrett would go after.

RD4
Jonathon Bullard DT Florida
Quick off the snap and can rush from the inside and outside. Type of player Marinelli seems to look for

RD4(COMP)
CJ Procise RB ND
Do it all type of RB. Runs, catches plays special teams.

RD5
Taveze Calhoun CB Miss State
Tough CB who isnt affraid to mix it up. Kinda reminds me of B Jones

I like it but one problem that I see is that Wentz might not make it to the 3rd. Might have to take him in the 2nd. I do like him a lot though

Are you assuming Jaylon Smith and Jalen Ramsey are gone?

I expected a Fresno State player but not too bad. Would be stoked about Jack, Miller, and Bullard.

I see him as a early to mid 2nd, but the 2nd/3rd tier could be deep this year depending on how players grade out. So It would be possible to get Wentz in the early 3rd. Not likely because I think guys like Keil, Brissett and Hogan will have to grade out high, which I don't see. But possible

I guess I'm not established enough yet to start my own post in this forum so I guess I'll put it here since it applies to a certain degree.

Projected Record 6-10 (Estimated #8 Pick)
1. Jaylon Smith-LB-Notre Dame
2. Corey Coleman-WR-Baylor
3. Maurice Canady-CB-Virginia
4. Kenyan Drake-RB-Alabama
4. (Comp.) Luther Maddy-DT-Virginia Tech
6. (From Oakand)- Nate Sudfeld-QB-Indiana
6. (Comp.) Matt Hegarty-G/C-Oregon
6.(Comp.) James Ross III-LB-Michigan
6.(Comp.) Keith Marshall-RB-Georgia

I like the idea of trading down that you mentioned. If possible, I think we should try and trade back to the middle of the 1st and score a second 2nd round pick. Teams will be willing to move up for a QB and we are in a good spot to trade down if someone wanted to jump up. Kansas City, New York Jets, and St. Louis are all projected right now to draft between the 14-24th spot and I think those teams also would be interested in jumping up for Goff, Cook, or Lynch depending on who is there. According to the trade value chart, the #8 pick is worth 1400 points. If we can trade back with a team in the 16th(ish) spot, we should get their 2nd round pick as well based on the value chart. This allows us to still draft in a decent position to get a talented player in the 1st and also get a shot at another top 50 prospect with the additional 2nd rounder.
If we can manage to do that, my mock adjusts like this:

1. (16th) Ezekiel Elliott-RB-Ohio State
2. (40th) Jordan Jenkins-LB-Georgia
2. (48th) William Jackson III-CB-Houston
3. Braxton Miller-WR-Ohio State
4. Luther Maddy-DT-Virginia Tech
4. Eddie Jackson-CB/S-Alabama
Beyond that everything stays the same since its a crap shoot anyway once you are past the third round.

Love the idea of trading down and grabbing Elliot. I've been thinking about it for a couple of weeks. Also love the Miller pick. The guy has surprisingly exceptional hands and is a spectacular athlete after he catches the ball--a steal in the third round. Gimme Jeremy Cash with one of those second-rounders, though, please!

No way Bullard is there in the 4th. He's a late 1st early to mid 2nd round guy.

I like the idea of a catalytic playmaker at LB. I think the team realizes this is a need but simply has missed out in recent drafts.

Love Bullard....he's a hell of a talent and no way he goes in the 4th.
I also don't see Procise leaving early to be a 4th/5th round pick either.
The idea of Braxton Miller is nice, but there are guys who have similar size/athleticism that have been playing WR their whole lives that will be available rather than taking a project. We need help at WR right away imo

Overall you picked a nice group of talented players though...so far away to try and do a mock of anything past the 1st round though for accuracy sake.

Not a fan of this mock tbh. I like Myles in the 1st depending on where we're drafting, but the other picks are meh.

Wentz likely won't be there in the 3rd as he has a 2nd round grade on him. I'm not really crazy about him either anyways. He reminds me too much of Ryan Tannehill.

I think once the season is over and all the dust has settled, the Cowboys will be picking somewhere between 12-18. Romo is going to win this most of our remaining games.

yup. Me though i would pick Jack over both. Guy is going to be a star watch

I'd take both over Jack. Smith is a longer, bigger kid. Throw in the torn ACL and I'd rather take the risk on Smith than Jack. Smith can play any of the three LB spots but I've seen scouting reports on Jack that limit him to likely WLB.

You would take Jack over Ramsey? An elite FS is much harder to find than a star 4-3 LB. If Ramsey somehow is on the board when the Cowboys pick he better be the name on the card.

Whats more of a problem? the intermediate area covered by the LBer? or the back end center field? Dallas probably found its Fs in Jones as he has already started replacing Wilcox in sets. IMO the only reason Jones isnt playing fulltime Fs now is because Dallas doesnt have CB depth. I really think if Scandrick wasnt hurt you would see Jones starting in place of wilcox.

Jones may end up being the FS. He's also looked pretty good at the CB position and Ramsey allows both to be moved all over the field. 4-3 LB has never been hard to get a decent player at and you usually have multiple 1st Rd talents there every year. FS is so much harder to find. Theres no way possible I pass on Ramsey IF he's available, which I doubt seriously anyways. If you ask me whether I would want Earl Thomas or Luke Keuchly for this defense, I pick Thomas every time. We just have a difference of opinion here.

I love Jaylon Smith. He is a great kid, smart and an incredible talent. I don't think he transfers well to a 4-3 defense though and definitely not one where he'll be asked to play zone and cover extensively.

If we are sticking to this scheme, we need to get guys that fit it.

He plays in a 4-3 now at ND and has the last two years and one of his strengths is coverage. If anything, the issue with him is taking on and shedding blockers.
