Season Turning point? or more of the same?

This is the kind of loss that can make or break a football team. They can rally around each other and play with a purpose, or surrender to doubting and whispering about each other and fall apart.

Or, they can be the same and continue their mediocrity to an 8-8 or 7-9 season, make a few nice sound-bites and then take a vacation.

In 1970, week 9 of the regular season the Cowboys got humiliated 38-0 by the Cardinals on Monday Night Football. It was the catalyst that brought them together as a team. They didn't lose another regular season game and only lost to the Colts in the Superbowl on a last play field goal. The next season they only lost three games on the way to their first Lombardi Trophy. (with that said, that defense had several all-pros and a few hall of famers, but had they not turned that season around, they might not be hall of famers now.)

The next game is at home against the Vikings. If they lose to the Vikings I think it will tell us that they have surrendered. Unfortunately, as bad as the Vikings have been, I think a narrow victory tells us the same thing. I think they need to blow-out the Vikings to have a reasonable chance of a "successful season."

Turning point? Nope. Not in my opinion. I have not heard any interviews from players or coaches after the game. But I bet I can nail some of what was said....

We have to get better...
Gotta go back to work....
We did some good things out there...
We'll get this turned around...
Everyone is battlin.....

Dez aside, the rest of the team is taking on the persona of the head coach.

We are decimated by injuries even more after this game.

I think we can get to 9 wins which will win division but wouldn't be surprised if we blow some more games and finish worse.

This team won't quit though win or lose it will be close.

I think they win next week, then lose to the Saints.

The Giant game on 11/17 is the biggest game. Win, and they can bury the Giants and position themselves to win the division. Lose, and it's anyone's division to win.

i can easily see the giants winning the next 2 at home and coming into our match up only a game behind. it's sickening to even think about it but there is a high possibility that the giants are in 1st after that game.

I said last week that I thought this game was the real midseason indicator of what this team is/will be for the rest of the season- that we have to win games like this if we are for real. I'm afraid we got our answer, and it's not a turn-around game so much as it was an exposure of what we are.

We're not a team that clinches things when we need to. This game could have really put us ahead of the division. We are a 9-7 team at best.

the turning point will be if we can beat the saints going into the bye...having a 6-4 record going into the bye means the Cowboys just need to win their last 3 division games and they are the division champs

That was my question in the thread. Will they quit? I'm not sure.

While the coaching, situational football, and general team is extremely mediocre- there is no shred of evidence that says the Cowboys will quit.

In fact, it is the ONLY saving grace of the whole Garrett administration. This Cowboys team does NOT quit.

This Cowboys team WILL, however, lose in stunningly fabulous style against all odds on a very regular basis.

This Cowboys team WILL depart stadiums with grace and class while being taunted and their fans attempt to peel the goo of the latest cruel insult to its amazing loyalty.

On and forward this Cowboys team will march to its ultimate humiliation, it will not quit until it finds it.

I don't know how the players can fully respect JG after a game like this.

This team doesnt have the horses on defense, or the coaches on offense, to be better than a somewhat entertaining 8 and 8 team.

I think we will continue the up/down pattern till the very end. Whether or not that gets us a playoff spot matters very little because this team is not consistent enough to pull together 2-4 straight victories.

The NO game is our chance to negate the stench of this one. Steal that game and we are back on track. It's highly doubtful since their offense will shred us but you never know

We have better chance at stealing the GB games since it's at home. I doubt it though.

Zordon, I don't think that the Giants have 5-3 in them over the remaining schedule, beyond the Raiders...not with red-zone/oline issues BUT stranger things have happened when it comes down these two teams. They are just not a good match-up, especially on the road with the zombie offense. It is heresy to say, but something deep and disquieting within me just can't help thinking that it might have been better for the Eagles to win today. Dallas seems to have a structural advantage [according to Murth] and getting them at home is much better.

That said, Dallas really let a good one get away today. It was one I did not see them winning, so it does not really alter my prescience on where they will finish, but another loss could put them on the slippery slope toward a losing season...but even then, they could still win the division! Scary!

I like our chances against NO more. Expect the unexpected.................this will be the type of game Dallas wins. I hope anyways.

I like them too. We haven't beaten a team with a winning record yet, but every game we have played against a team with a winning record we've played them close. It's about time we win one.
