Pete Carroll is going to be a disaster as a NFL coach, just like he was the first time.

They really have had injuries up the wazoo and Hass has looked terrible when he's been in.

I can't see the logic behind firing Mora at this juncture.

Maybe they don't see him as a guy who can re-build a program. Perhaps they thought he could coach an already talented team and push them to their best, but can't build a team from scratch.

At this point Seattle does not have a very talented team and they are not a young team, either. Hasselback is 34 right now and the entire roster is the 9th oldest group in the league. FYI the Commanders are the oldest team.

Seattle just needs to start over at this point. Homlgrem is gone and now so is his hand picked successor.

The NCAA is about to drop the bomb on USC that's why Carroll is trying to slip out the backdoor.

Why would Caroll be a disaster? He actually has a winning record in 4 seasons. I would say he didnt really coach a team that more than average at best either.

Yep, I've seen a couple of different people from ESPN (including Mortensen) say that's the guy. He said there's mutual interest.

I think Carroll feels the NCAA posse breathing down his neck.

This.

McKight is going to get busted. That's why he declared.

Carroll took over a team that had just went to the Superbowl under Parcells. Then they progressively got worse under Carroll every year until he was finally fired after a 5-11 season. Then Belichick took his place and the Patriots won the Superbowl the following year.

He's basically Barry Switzer. He's great at sitting in 18 year old kid's living rooms and giving sales pitches, and sitting at alumni dinners and giving speeches. Not so great at coaching football or installing discipline in his team or organization. The Patriot players basically committed mutiny and quit on him, and now he's leaving USC before the NCAA drops a sanctions bomb on him. They had some coaching ingenuity under Chow, but since Chow and Kiffin left basically USC only wins when they can out talent everyone else ... and even then you can pretty much depend on them losing to someone like Stanford or Oregon State every year just because Jim Harbaugh or Mike Reilly completely outcoaches him. He had what was widely regarded to be the most talented team in the NCAA and coached them up to the Emerald Bowl.

Just to clarify,

His first HC job was in NY, he went 6-10. The two previous years the team was 4-12 and 8-8. They replaced him with Rich Kotite. I dont recall if he left on his own or they let him go, but Kotite went 3-13 and 1-15 in his two seasons.

He took over NE from Parcells and they won the divison that season, then finished 9-7 the next season. His last season in NE he was 8-8. Those are hardly failures.

Belichick took over that team that was 8-8 in 1999, and he went 5-11 in 2000. They won the Super Bowl in 2001.

So in other words ... exactly what I said ... he took over a team that went to the Superbowl the previous year and they progressively got worse every year until he was fired.

Parcells coached 3 teams to Super Bowls, not one of them made it back for a repeat performance. In fact his two Giants teams didnt even make the playoffs following his super bowl WINS.

Again, going 10-6 and winning your division the following year is hardly a failure.

He also had to deal with losinng Curtis Martin to Parcells and the Jets, and then lost outstanding rookie Robert Edwards basically for good after his first season. They lost Terry Glenn for alot of a couple seasons as well.
