The defense is leaps and bounds better than last year's, despite actually not having both of corners healthy throughout the entire season.

And that's in large part due to scheme/coaching change.

That's a bit of an exageration. (More than a bit....really.)

But at least there aren't any FB's gashing us in the passing game.

At least we finally get to see Marcus Spears and Chris Canty unleashed.

Parcells was just an honest to god idiot. If your secondary isn't good enough to play man coverage consistently, that doesn't mean you stay in a base 3-4. STUPID.

Wade actually attempts to mask our weaknesses. And by and large it works.

you have a point, although I wouldn't call him an idiot, or stupid, that's far from the truth, stubborn is the best adjective to use here

instead of having 2 safeties playing deep cover-2, we only have back deep, while the other is near the middle of the field, Roy, it's the same players except this time Roy Williams isn't the last line of pass-defense, plus we finally upgraded the FS position

Without starting a last year vs this year debate I can say this.

I am not sure if this came across on tv because I havent watched it yet but in the third and 4th quarter our defense, particularly on the sideline was a mess, over and over the team didnt know who was supposed to be in and who was supposed to be out.

Henry, williams, spencer and watkins were coming and going so much and no one knew what they were supposed to be doing. That is why newman called a timeout on that 3rd and 1, henry spencer and williams were all confused.

So take that for what it is worth.

We're going to see a 30% increase in both sacks and INTs. And compared to that 2nd half breakdown, we're going to see about a 40% decrease in PPG and YPG.

Leaps and bounds, whatever you wanna call it. It's noticeably better. And that's the result of scheme changes.

Yeah ok. You are obviously a football coach under wraps.
Is winning not good enough for you?

Funny... I thought that was the goal of all those guys running around out there.

:lmao2: That's fair.

Compared to the first half top 5 defense, it's about exactly the same. Only, we blitz twice as much.

When you say that the talent dictates it, I hope you're referring to the offensive prowess.

Dallas plays a lost of soft zone because without a few quick strike TDs, Dallas' offense is going to be very difficult to outscore over the long haul.

Look at Pittsburgh, they have the #1 defense by a huge margin. They also have three losses despite a quality offense. How? Today they got too aggressive defensively and gave up a few huge plays.

I love aggressive gameplanning as much as anyone but eventually the time comes for a good team to line up and smash the opponent in the mouth. Dallas sometime chooses to make the other team beat them. Today was another example of the other team not being able to.

To use a boxing analogy. Dallas knew that Washington couldn't hurt them but instead of walking through leather, they danced while winning rounds.

The rule for Pittsburgh has been make the throw the ball when they have trouble running the football their passing game is built around alot of play action passing so if you can stifle the run they struggle.

Sure it is. It's the result of the defensive scheme. Jerry said in an interview that the reason we couldn't change much on defense (and prevent the collapse) is because Bill didn't put anything different in place during training camp. He said what we were doing late in the season was all we knew to do.

How does that not fall on Parcells?

The secondary gave up only 16 points (1 TD and 3 FGs) and then gave up 1 TD in a prevent defense (up 12 pts) trying to make Wash use as much time as they could. And that prevent defense also forced a 4th and 4 yd play. Unfortunately, Wash converted the 4th down (Roy Williams missed his coverage on Cooley) and went on to score a TD to make it 28-23. All in all, I'd say the secondary accomplished its goals: no big plays, hold to FGs, and with the 12 pt lead make Wash use the clock, and come up with a big int.

you put a better quarterback and better receivers back there (which im sure we'll see in the playoffs) and those FG's turn into TD's quick

We are stuck with roy he isn't of any good value we have to wait until his contract is up to get rid of him what team in their right mind will trade for Roy's Overpaid *** and have all that cap space taken up for an overrated player??
