Secondary Predictions

Ok quick thoughts fellow Zoners, how many INTs will the secondary come up with this year, because all I keep hearing is pressure from up front and more blitzing, however the secondary better be able to hold up.

Predictions time...

I'll start

Newman: 4 INTs and 1 or 2 for touchdowns.

Henry: 3 INTs, none for touchdowns.

Aaron Glenn: 2 INTs, none for touchdowns.

Roy Williams: 4 INTs with maybe 1 for a touchdown.

Ken Hamlin: 5 INTs with maybe 1 or 2 for touchdowns.

Watkins: 3 INTs with 1 maybe for a touchdown.

Keith Davis: Let's just say good job on special teams :laugh2:

Yeah but teams usually shy away from his side... I think he should gamble more though.

Agreed, rushed throws present a lot better chance for INTs...

I find it hard to believe that Hamlin gets 5 and Watkins gets 3. Thats 8 from one position...seems a little steep.

Oh yea, and I still think hamlin is the backup

I wouldn't mind him getting zero.

If teams don't throw at him its an advantage.

Not really seeing that Wade Phillips will play both Hamlin and Watkins at the same time in their Nickel package, with Roy Williams being up near the line...

If teams threw more passes T-New's side, 4 INT's is way low.

I do believe that the secondary will be towards the top of the league in Pass Defense due to the fact that I believe that our pass rush will be MUCH better and the QB won't have as much time and rush his passes.....this should be a fun defense to watch.

Newmann doesn't get the credit he deserves because he doesn't get the int's... teams respect him, and as such do not throw to him often; however, he needs to get int's with the chances he gets. Look at Champ Bailey, he takes away a huge part of the field, but when teams throw at him he is on those balls like white on rice.

If Newmann gets four int's, and takes one to the house, and the rest for a good chunk of yards, he will be a probowler without a doubt.

He might end up being voted an all-pro if the defense gets more sacks and performs better, therefore T-New gets more attention.

man you guys are lowballing us. Go look at all the defenses when Wade was a head coach...They had about 24+ INTs a year.

IMO, we will get a lot of INT opportunities this year. The concern I have is if we can convert those opportunities, instead of dropping the ball....I got so frustrated in 2006 with all the dropped INTs.

I am going out on a limb and saying as a unit the secondary will get us 22 INTs.....with the LBs and DL getting us 7.....for a total of 29 INTs on the year.
