Secondary

there were a lot of big plays against our secondary besides that skins game.

KC comes to mind

a lot of that comes from zimmer though i think....between the vanilla style in general and all out blitzes he leaves the secondary out to dry a lot

Also the SF game last year too. Loyd burned Henry a few times in that game. I'll lay that blame on the coaching staff though. Henry is more suited to play against the bigger WRs in the league (i.e. Owens*thank goodness not any more*, Burress, Toomer, etc.) not the burners (Moss, Smith, Galloway) like Tnew is more suited too. If Newman is on Loyd for that game he doesn't even sniff a decent day. Same for Moss in the Foreskins game.

SS

or how about when B. Lloyd completely BURNED Henry for that TD, which is kinda scary now that hes a Deadskin

I may be wrong but the only other two I remeber were Anthony Henry just getting beat in man on man coverage on an all out blitz vs. Anquan Boldin, and the cover 2 misplay by Kieth Davis in the Chiefs game. I just dont remember being beat with the big pass play all that often.
I remember a few more.
Brandon Lloyd burning us deep in the Niners game.
A wr wide open in the early part of the Carolina game for a td...Proehl I think.(Blown coverage).
Not being able to stop the Seahawks in the last 2 minutes with a 10-3 lead.
Shockey running across the field un-checked for a td late in the first Giants game(Blown coverage).
My main concern, and I imagine a lot of cowboys fans concern, is the trend on not being able to stop teams late in games when they were clearly passing to get back in the game or win it.
When an offense becomes one-dimensional a good/great defense can pin thier ears back and really let loose. Our defense is not there yet.
Part of the problem in the first skin game was only rushing 3 players against Brunnell and letting Moss get a free release off the line of scrimmage.
That accomplished 2 things for the skins.
1. It allowed Brunell to step into those deep passes.
2. Moss was able to break down any cushion our safeties may have had and once Moss was even he was leavin.
It's a bad combo when you have 2 safeties who are at thier best near the line of scrimmage and do not have the foot speed or ball skills to be effective in deep coverage. Let's hope Coleman or Watkins can fix that or at least upgrade those skills.

I'm more concerned about the OL than anything else on the team. As far as the secondary goes, the only spot that I'm concerned about is the FS spot, like many others on here are. I'm just "hoping" that our FA OL we picked up can step up and do the job, 'cause if not, our offense will still be trying to play catch up most of the time.

It's amazing what a better pass rush does for your secondary. I expect this unit to be one of the best in the NFL this year.
I completely agree with that. However, drafting one in the 2nd or 3rd round next year is probably a good idea.
