Seems like we must really be shopping Morgan and Ogbogu.

Ogs still here and we TRADED for a 6-5 250 pound Vet OLB today.
Why?
You do the math!

The math is, we have 53 players on the roster WITHOUT Price.

Price comes on, someone comes off and we ain't keeping SIX WRs.

Why did we trade for a 6-5 250 OLB - tO BACKUP aLS AND bURNETT?

I'm not an expert.......I'm not trying to be a smart-aleck...

But I think we'll keep Als....if only for depth.

Parcells has been lamenting about our lack of depth at OLB for the past two weeks. Fujita helps with depth.

Why would we put ourselves back to having no depth at OLB?

Parcells:

Ogbogu will play somewhere in the NFL this year, I know teams our interested.

He is our 3rd best edge rusher behind Ware and Ellis, but he is pretty much a situational player. He can give you some special teams plays, which is unusual for a guy that size.

He could maybe get us through a game at OLB, but he is pretty much a pass rusher in our 4 man line.

And if you wanted to rush the hell out of a team, bookend Ware and Og at OLB in a 3-4 and rush 5.

I hope we keep E.O and don't mind Morgan if he stays.
amen, nothing wrong with having five nfl quality wide receivers. We play against dawkins, s. taylor and arrington twice a year each. Somebody won't be able to play the whole season. E.O. aint a bad backup if we can afford to keep him.

Would we really get anything more than a 7th for Og or Morgan? Morgan will be released when the Price signing is official. As for Og I see no reason to keep him. He's out of position at LB and too undersized to play DE.

Signing Price and trading for an OLB, makes both expendable, IMO.

I doubt we are shopping Ogbogu.

I think Bill is counting on him to backup Ware.

Fujita will either start over singleton or back him up.

There is plenty of reason to keep Ogbogu. He played OLB for Parcells in New York and has more experience there than people realize; he can back up Ware in that spot just fine. He can rush the passer from either side so he adds versatility to the pass rush packages. Also, he plays ST pretty well in several of the ST packages.

Fujita has played his entire career on the left side and that is what Parcells wants him for; to give us more size and talent on the left. Burnett doesn't seem to be developing as quickly as many thought he would and Parcells doesn't want to rush him. But Singleton is smaller than BP wants on the outside and is nothing more than a journeyman in any case. Fujita is a huge upgrade over Singleton and much more valuable there than backing up Ware. Singleton may not get cut this year because he is the only experienced backup we have to Fujita on that side. But he will be gone next year and maybe sooner when BP is satisfied that Fujita can do the job.

As for Morgan; he plays no ST, he makes over a million, he is the #5 receiver now and he was disgruntled over being #4...I just don't see him sticking around. We will try to trade him if we can but if not he will be shown the door. He is just too far down the depth chart and too high priced; call him a cap casualty or whatever, but he is gone.

Good post David

Pass rushers are a premium in this league.
