We’ve all seen it by now , everybody and their mother has Dallas trading up for Styles

I’ve watched a bit of his highlights, I watched the Indiana game, supposedly the game where he pops off the screen.

I see ability. I see a good player. I see a sure tackler. I see an athletic player

I don’t see wow. I don’t see game changer. I don’t see culture changer on the field. I don’t see a guy worthy of a top 5 pick.

For those of you who love Styles, what am I missing. Point in the right direction so I can try and see what you see

Reese
Bailey
Downs

Styles

That’s my board if we are moving up

I’m in favor of Downs but if we get the best LB on the board I will not complain. I think the reason he is so desired by many is he has the speed and coverage ability to be very effective in the passing game, his height and jumping ability has the promise of erasing windows, he has the blitzing ability, pursuit against the run is great and he is the surest tackler in the draft. I heard somewhere he has a missed tackle rate of 2 percent. Plus he is super young 20 y/o if I remember right. Haven’t heard anything about injury history being a problem. Plus he is smart enough to be the green dot. With all that said, I think Downs is even better.

I dont think you are missing anything...he is a solid 1st round LBr prospect that probably goes around 20 most years but is getting pumped up in a bad class.

Is he the type of off ball LBr you take around the top 10? Someone like Shazier, Kuechly, Parsons? Absolutely not.

That is why I am opposed to moving up for him.

i watched 3 OSU games and Styles was a sure tackler but i never thought he was a difference maker,Reese was their best player and Downs was the one setting the Defense.

He plays linebacker and we have none and haven’t had one since rookie year LVE and Sean Lee and one year of Jaylon Smith.

Incredibly smart
Comparisons to Fred Warner
Has shown the ability to potentially rush the passer, play safety, play linebacker….

This is what I see. Reese to me is head and shoulders clear of him. I’d much rather give up more and get Reese

I disagree. It’s not a bad class. It’s a bad class for quarterbacks. There are some very good linebackers. Cowboys could easily fix their unit with this draft.

With Styles he has the highest ceiling of anyone. His measurables are nuts. Styles is an elite talent.

Reese and Bailey are out of the question, so it comes down to Styles and Downs if Dallas moves up. Styles has that rare combination of size, speed and versatility with great instincts.

He started out as a Safety and can play Edge too. He can take TE’s and RB’s into man-coverage and is also solid in zone as well. He can tackle and play the run with the best of them.

Dallas desperately needs a MLB, so that puts him over Downs for me.

*Bad class at the top*

And I am not going to put Styles on a pedestal b/c of a great combine. The whole world knew he was a freak athlete that shouldnt have surprised anyone. His production was too mediocre to be in the same tier as the guys I referenced.

Reese and Bailey are not out of the question. Not at all. They’ll be harder to get; no doubt about that. But far from out of the question

This. This is why i would hate to move up for Sonny Styles. If we move up it should be for a DE (Bailey or Reese). You can find decent linebackers later in the draft.

It would require resources from the 2027 draft though. I don’t want Dallas losing any more picks from what appears to be a strong class.

I thought Styles showed up more consistently than Reese. But I don't think Styles has that bend to be an effective edge guy if need be like Reese has.
Styles combine RAS numbers were insane though.

I'm an Allen guy just barely below Styles because of his between the ears readiness. I think he is superior in that regard to the both of them. They did an interview where the GA defensive coordinator said he would stay silent at times and let Allen run the whole thing on the field. I really liked that. Especially after having endured Kenneth "No Instincts" Murray last year.

He ain't as physically gifted top end wise as Styles/Reese but I definitely would not mind if his knee checked out medically and he was the pick.
