How in the sam hell can a starting safety in the NFL have not one ****ing pass defensed in 22 games...
Probably because he doesn't get targeted much.

In 2008 there were nearly 50 safeties that were targeted more than Ken Hamlin (according to ProFootballFocus). And yet he played the 13th most snaps of all safeties.

Through five games this year, Hamlin had only been targeted 6 times. I don't recall him being targeted today either.

Teams don't throw at him. Maybe that's because he typically has good coverage. Whatever it is, it's not a good thing when your safety is targeted a lot.

Wow, I figured it meant he just sucked at making plays on the ball. You should be his agent next year.

Am I missing something? Did Hamlin have a bad game? Gerald is a bonafide baller but I thought Hamlin played well today. And yes, I'll defend Hamlin over our alternatives. :(

I agree Hamlin didn't play his normal game today. It's getting close to Halloween so that might have played a role. If Hamlin was replaced how would we get lined up correctly without him?

Can you explain why he's rarely targeted?

He blows his coverage so badly that they blame it on someone else? ;)

It's like claiming McNabb isn't inaccurate because he throws so few INTs. But he throws so few INTs because when he misses, he misses so badly that noone can catch it on either team.

This is not an actual argument. Were it an actual argument, I would pwn u.

Hamlin is still the best we have to offer there. Watkins looks great on special teams. Leave him there. Do you guys remember how poor he was at safety? Alan Ball is a corner. I don't even know why they're doing that with him. But he hasn't been terrible at safety. Everyone needs to just chill out and let the season play out before we get rid of Hamlin. Watkins has been a great special teams player. Let him flourish there before we give him bigger responsibilities.

agree I like Ball's hits - have not seen him get beat yet

What hits? Aside from that hit he got two weeks ago? He hasn't really made much of a splash in the secondary as far as hits go.

Now I'm no Hamlin fan and I'm very disappointed in his lack of production for a while now but there is some serious merit that that targeting thing.

If they don't throw it your way a whole lot you're not going to have a whole lot of chances to make plays.

But i agree that when the ball does come his way, the few times it does, he needs to start making plays on those balls to make the teams pay for ever going his way.

we know Felix wont see kick return duties too soon,

Felix was back for two kickoffs yesterday. Both were touchbacks.

Rossum goes down 1st time out.......

all of a sudden with Austin producing.....Does he get removed from Kickoff return duties to protect him....

we know Felix wont see kick return duties too soon, if ever

Crayton busted a punt return but........

T.Choice as kick return...or one of the other Wr's?......

Ogletree?

And Im not jumping on the Crayton bandwagon. Skyler Green would have brought that one back

Thought watkins should have been the starter for two years now. I really like the way he plays.
