I don't think he's really going to end up leaving. He wants a long term deal to stay with the team. Jones will make it happen.

:hammer:

right to the point! congrats.

what the hell is this?

Same sort of noise we heard about Hamlin after 2007.

Sensabaugh is a pretty good player, but nothing special. He benefitted from being surrounded by some good players, and was able to find a niche because of it. That's why no team is going to fork up a 2nd rounder for him, and no team was willing to give him very much last offseason. If Kerry Rhodes couldn't fetch anything higher than a 4th, there's little chance that Sens does.

you would have to give up a first for Bethea.

Thats what his tender is, but he could sign his 1yr deal and be traded for whatever the two teams agree on.

or they could just negotiate something else, and not give up a 1st

Sensabaugh is quite a good player and if we lose him it will undoubtedly hurt. Unlike Ken Hamlin this guy does play the ball and can cover.

He had a cast on most of the year thus butchered possible INTs but he can flat out play and losing him would create an immediate need at safety.

Only thing I can think of the amount of money he's asking must be very high. In that case getting back a 2nd is a shrewd move for sure.

I can't believe people would rather have a second round pick over a solid younger safety who was hampered by a bad hand last year. With the Cowboys track record with second round picks you would think people would be running to the hills.

Sensy is worth more than a two to us. Now. I think he could be upgraded though. Not sure how easy that would be. Too bad we don't have much of a shot at drafting Allen in the second.

Yup, I agree.

Sensabaugh is a player.

I feel like I am in bizarro world, Cowboys fans preaching an extremely conservative approach to free agency and rather letting solid vets in there twenties go for second round picks??????

Oh and by the way, do you see the date of that post where I said Newman should be released? It happened to be on December 13th, 2009. Do you know what game occured on that day? The SAN DIEGO game where Newman gave up that huge 3rd down play to Jackson which lead to the game-winning touchdown for San Diego. So I'm 110% positive that post came out of frustration because we were on a two-game losing streak when almost EVERYONE thought the season was over. Nice find, but you have to consider the circumstances also. :p:

Give up. You've been outed.

:D

I don't want Sensy out of Dallas

Sensabaugh is a solid player, but if you're asking me would i rather re-sign Sensabaugh or draft a top 50 player, i'm taking the pick.

the player will bust, Sensa is no bust who will improve next year since he wont have a cast, plus he is only 26.

It depends on what Sensabaugh is looking for in a contract. If he wants a Hamlin type contract I would rather have the pick. If he wants a more reasonable contract I would prefer him. Especially the way we've drafted in the 2nd round as of late.

So you're telling me you've never said something negative or positive about the Cowboys that you regretted saying by the end of the week? Seriously, man. It's not like I started a thread titled: "Newman needs to be cut/traded/released right NOW!" It was a post in a gamethread or something right after we had a very tough loss at home.

I'm amazed by the posts in this thread.

Sensabaugh basically shut down the best TE's we faced all season long. He is exceptional in coverage on TE's, and he showed up more in all coverage than Hamlin.

I don't believe for a second that Dallas will let him walk...I think they felt safe with a 2nd round tender and want to see what the market offers.

When you let your good players walk and have to replace them, you usually take a step backwards in the transition. This team is already very good and should continue upgrading.

I am mixed on him honestly. I am a big fan of his but he did give up a few big plays that cost the boys games ie (Chargers/Vikings). I think in Wades D, you just need some players who can cover and tackle every now and then. But he also played with broken thumbs most of the season and is a great team player.
