Sense of Urgency

Reading the forum this week I've noticed a lot of statements about this being a "throw away season" and some are comfortable with that as long as the rookies on defense get experience. I do not get this train of thought at all. First of all, Jason Garrett does not deserve anymore throw away seasons. Second, we cannot afford any throw away seasons right now with Dak nearing his contract extension. You're supposed to take advantage of this time while he's cheap like the Seahawks and Ravens did with their quarterbacks. Do you guys realize how much harder it's going to be to build this team once Dak is taking 1/6th of the salary cap (especially with the stooges running the front office)? Where is the sense of urgency? I hope to see some today because Dak's extension is coming whether you like it or not (see Kirk Cousins). We need to have a championship by then or else we could fall off a cliff like some have once they paid their quarterbacks. Wake up Boys!

That's the biggest issue I've noticed this year. No sense of urgency. They don't seem hungry this year and that falls on coaching. The process is something to get you through the week. This team needs motivation now.

While I don't disagree, doesn't Dak have two more seasons on the current contract?

No excuse for their play thus far... Interested to see what they look like with more healthy pieces (and Irving's return) in the mix. This is a nice barometer game for what kind of team we have on our hands.

Win and we head into the bye in good shape to rest up and get out to 4-2 with a victory in SF. Lose and we pretty much need to sweep the division games and steal one from KC in order to compete.

New deal probably gets signed after next season. I don't think they let him get to a contract year. I'm not sure how that will affect how the money will be spread out.

And Romo still has 5-6 years left according to Jerry.

Dak's health let alone everything else around the team is not guaranteed in those two years.

Yeah you’re right Dak breaks his collar bone every time he gets tackled

Dak is a marketing machine IMO, but his play is going to have to improve to get that huge contract. We have plenty of time thank goodness. And the most positive thing is Cooper Rush might be just as good!

I don't think it has to improve. I think he gets a new deal if he replicates what he's doing now for another year. That's why I said see Kirk Cousins. Teams are reluctant to give up guys that are even borderline franchise QB's. Dak is better than Cousins and a start off the field. Jerry will take care of him without the drama of the Cousins situation.

Even Garrett homies know he is sn idiot and we're winning nothing with him as HC

This is their way of consoling themselves and dumb down expectations so there will be convenient excuses

On to next year "as long as the team improves" lol

Well, what do you expect?
He's only been HC for 6 years and when was a team ever built in ONLY 6 years ? Lol

I’m all for throwing away the season if it means Garrett is finally canned.

If not, then I want to win!

Garrett isn't going anywhere. Jerry's love for him is tremendous and Stephen's love for him is a mirror image of Jerry's. He's safe for now. If this season goes into the crapper, it'll be because the OL can't recover from the loss of Leary. Safety play may or may not get better until Woods gets more experience and becomes a starter. Hopefully, we'll draft a LG with better talent than our backups in the draft and a fast WR capable of getting open with regularity. Another LB might be in the offing as well. Unfortunately, our needs are still fairly considerable. Pray Tyron's back improves.

Fans don't need to have a "sense of urgency", view today as "a must win", or any other cliche' you may want to toss out there. We're just fans.

At 2-2 and a whopping 1/4 of the way through the season any talk of giving up hope on a season is laughable to me. It's grounds for me to dismiss whatever comes out of that persons mouth (or keyboard) going forward to be honest with you.
