Reading the forum this week I've noticed a lot of statements about this being a "throw away season" and some are comfortable with that as long as the rookies on defense get experience. I do not get this train of thought at all. First of all, Jason Garrett does not deserve anymore throw away seasons. Second, we cannot afford any throw away seasons right now with Dak nearing his contract extension. You're supposed to take advantage of this time while he's cheap like the Seahawks and Ravens did with their quarterbacks. Do you guys realize how much harder it's going to be to build this team once Dak is taking 1/6th of the salary cap (especially with the stooges running the front office)? Where is the sense of urgency? I hope to see some today because Dak's extension is coming whether you like it or not (see Kirk Cousins). We need to have a championship by then or else we could fall off a cliff like some have once they paid their quarterbacks. Wake up Boys!
This year we find out about this team.

Last year was very flashy.

This year we are a marked team.

All good Cowboy teams have to go thru this.

We all sit watch and wait.

So the front office guys got the cap in good position and drafted very well, without over spending in FA, but they're stooges? This isn't 2008.

Other than that I agree. No one should be taking the season as a free pass.... heads should roll if we don't atleast make playoffs

Garrett isn't going anywhere. Jerry's love for him is tremendous and Stephen's love for him is a mirror image of Jerry's. He's safe for now. If this season goes into the crapper, it'll be because the OL can't recover from the loss of Leary. Safety play may or may not get better until Woods gets more experience and becomes a starter. Hopefully, we'll draft a LG with better talent than our backups in the draft and a fast WR capable of getting open with regularity. Another LB might be in the offing as well. Unfortunately, our needs are still fairly considerable. Pray Tyron's back improves.
....AND Free What puzzles me the most is why we haven't gotten a veteran pass rusher. Haven't we learned anything from last year's Wodger's pass from the backfield where he had enough time to cook a steak? It was like a replay from last season's playoff game. Again, on the last play, Wodger's got us. Only this time with an 18yd run and last year it was an 18yd pass. What does it take to wake up the front office? I just don't get it. It was like Chip Kelly took over when the season was finished. Getting rid of Church was bad too. Ugh, the list goes on.

Or you could trade the over-rated Prescott for a boatload of picks....I know I wouldn't take this team down that path again...after seeing what that Romo contract did to this franchise. It's a death sentence.

If the FO doesnt have it, why should anybody else? They prove that year after year by trotting a coach out there that isnt fit for the job.

It's a reasonable question but this team does have a maturation period.
Ripe/ having arrived at the fitting stage or time for a particular action or purpose).

I think the FO probably decided to take a DE in round one and hope it paid off, given due time, despite the fact that it usually takes a year or more for rookie DEs to develop effectively. I imagine they already felt strongly that Demarcus Lawrence and David Irving would be very capable pass rushers once they got past their suspensions. As it turns out, that was probably a well founded evaluation. I'm sure they're also hoping Taco develops significantly better than he has until now in the years ahead.

Of course, Aaron Rodgers is another story unto itself. Our entire defense cries for relief to prevent further embarrassment at his hands. Our pass rush must continue to improve even more than it has so far, along with additional LBs who would add support to the DL. The safety position needs to be bolstered also. Eventually, perhaps sooner than we know, Xavier Woods might well become a starter to help facilitate that need.

The front office has evidently been hell-bent upon building their cap health to a point that inhibits their use of generously implementing veteran free agency. It's to the extent whereby their refusal to spend enough to acquire elite veteran help is extremely prohibitive of doing so. Of course, they justify this by announcing that they believe the draft is the best way to remain solvent under the cap. Obviously, such a polity eliminates anything resembling rapid improvement from happening. It's a policy for better or worse, by way of a team's preference.

That's the biggest issue I've noticed this year. No sense of urgency. They don't seem hungry this year and that falls on coaching. The process is something to get you through the week. This team needs motivation now.

Pretty sure that #21 looming suspension is carrying a bigger dark cloud over that locker room than anybody wants to admito_O
Not that #21 IS the team but he's a bigger cog that the other sprockets turn from ,more so than is given credit,,, #4 is tight and turning in the best showings a fan could possibly hope for,,,,I'm gonna beat this #50 war drum one more time,,, had he hit the field in a healthy fashion these last two weeks,we would be 4-1 and motoring on to another one and done post seasono_O

AWW the wait till next year crowd at its best...you win now there is no such thing as throw away or wait till next season or give the young guys a year to groom...in sports you win now or loose.

Wait till next year when Garrett gets another pass because Zeke will miss 6 games.

When has a 310 lb OL ever had a bad back improve?
