Why are you fans of the team when they have under performed so much in the past 28 years?

I have been a fan for 47 years and seen success and SB victories.
I have developed a loyalty to this team, and cant imagine following another team.
So, I will follow them no matter how poorly run they are.

But you young fans, what keeps you following this team ?

It is certainly not because of playoff success.

Does the circus and entertainment aspect of the team that Jerry has created draw you in ?

Just an older curious fan here.

Thanks, John

I wouldnt say Im young by any stretch. I started liking the Cowboys in the 70s when I was a kid watching Staubach. I grew up in New England and the Patriots sucked back then.

I honestly wish I had never done it. Would have been better going through the Brady and Belli years. As it stands I have more respect for Brady than any player in any sport ever.

If I could take a pill or shot and magically no longer like the Cowboys I would do it instantly. Cant stand Jerry and the way the Cowboys run their teams. Its like a curse now.

Jerry has diminished the enjoyment of following this team for many of us older fans.
I do really appreciate him hiring Jimmy and the 3 SBs we won, but the last 28 years of watching him mismanage the team, have been frustrating.
With 28 years of failure, why can't he just step back and hire a competent GM and give us a fighting chance?

I am 40 so young enough to have suffered but old enough to have enjoyed the 90s (was 10 in 1992 so got to see all 3 superbowls during my most impressionable years).

In my 20's i was a maniac about the team...wouldnt dream of missing a second of a game, got crazy, screamed, yelled, ripped off jerseys, etc....if they loss i wouldnt be approachable for days, cried after the Divisonal lost to the GIants in 2007,

In my early 30's i started softening and not taking it as seriously mostly because it wasn't sustainable and other things started being a lot more important.

When i had kids at 32, i decided i wanted them to watch with me so i started changing the way i watched games to make it more fun for them (i ruined football for my wife in my 20s).

As my kids have grown some (2,6 & 8) i have made the games about "fun football food" and having fun with daddy in the basement. For the playoffs we did "playoff parties" where we pick out fun food, wear our jerseys out, put flags on the car, daughter bakes something and we just focus on the family aspect....

I want my kids to enjoy watching with me so that its a fun expereince and something they enjoy as they get older...i have so many fond memories from my youth that i want them to have the same.

What constitutes younger fan. The one who didn’t get to enjoy the 90’s. I came on the year they lost to jake Plummer so they prepped me for this.

Why is it that only Cowboys fans get pressured with walking away from Their fan ship. We aren’t the most disappointing and unsuccessful teams of the last 25 years(the years I’ve been a cowboy fan)

Also I’m Nationals fan and that WS win reinforce my allegiance to Cowboys nations. I just buy less merchandise and attend less games but never will I stop watching/rooting for the Cowboys.

And this is why people think lots of Cowboys fans are frauds. You don’t quit a team because they aren’t winning. Then again some of you only became a fan because they were winning so I guess that bandwagon goes both ways.

That's really cool, Jipper.
You can enjoy your family even if the Cowboys dissapoint.
My wife was a causal skins fan when we married.
I would get so moody after a loss in the 90s that she would actually want the Cowboys to win, lol
Now I just have realistic expectations.
I expect the team to be competitive in the regular season, enjoy the games but know
with Jerry's culture the team is not going to have post season success.

So you are a front runner who picked the Cowboys in the 70’s instead of supporting the local team? Now you regret picking Dallas because NE has been better? Hilarious.

Not trying to say you should not be a fan.
Glad you are here.
Just curious what keeps you engaged in the team with such dismal post season performances?

I actually like our McClay and most of the moves they have made since MM arrived. But Jerry continues to run the team like a fan and makes huge mistakes like forcing Zeke on the coaches and resigning him.

I was 7 buddy and the Cowboys were always winning and looking good doing it. NE was a joke. I didnt even know what a front runner was at the time. Ive stayed true through all these pathetic years so dont be calling me a front runner.

I do regret it as this team run by Jerry has been largely a joke and will be until he is no longer running it.

You picked a team because they were winning, no other reason. No connection to the team or the city, that’s the definition of a front runner.

Leafs fan… same old story.

Cowboys fan… 29 now and getting up for games is still exciting but not the same craziness as 4-5 years ago.

I don’t know why I got suckered into this but one thing I will say is that I will never be disloyal to my team. Really wish I picked the Bills since I live in Toronto could have had more access to the games and the team and obviously their recent success but it is what it is - Cowboys til I die
