The short answer is I'm a die hard sports fan and support my teams like a mad man no matter what. I'd rather watch losing football than no football at all, if that makes any sense. God, it sounds worse when I type it and read it aloud.

I'm born and raised in NC, but even though I'm a young fan, I'm still older than the Panthers. My Dad was/is a Cowboys fan but never tried to raise me to be like him. I still remember getting hoodies, and jackets, and hats with Panthers logos on them as a child once the franchise formed. I never latched onto the Panthers because there was always negativity with them in the local news. Rae Carruth had a woman he fathered a child with murdered, Fred Lane was shot in cold blood by his wife, Kerry Collins was an erratic mess, etc. They just never became my team. I remember Dallas winning Super Bowl XXX, and I remember how much I loved Emmitt and Deion.

That's why I'm a Cowboys fan.

I've witnessed my Carolina Hurricanes win a Stanley Cup and my UNC Tar Heels win 3 national championships since I was in high school. I felt great in those moments. Peak sports fandom. I love the Cowboys more than 100 times I love any of my other teams in any other sport. I keep telling myself that one day when we win it all, it will all be worth it. But man - I never in my wildest dreams would've guessed we'd be getting close to 3 decades...

Started watching the Cowboys at 7 in 1977, watched my first SB. Cried during the catch. Danny White was my guy in the early 80s, had some down years until 89 when the new regime came in and loved the 90s. Been sad and fighting with my own fans since 95 and everyone has a plan and guess what, no matter what QB we've had, no matter what defense we've had, what offensive line, no matter what defensive line, we can't get it done. Dak will be gone soon, we'll bring in another QB, and the same story will repeat itself.

We will blame this player, that player, but Jerry Jones will continue to skate through unharmed. I'm numb right now, nothing gets me overly emotional anymore. I don't scream at the TV like I used to, I don't scream at the dog or anything like that. I'm just numb to it all.

If my post trouble you that much
Just put me on your ignore list.
You sound angry.
Still upset over the loss?
It was just a discussion starter.
I would not choose to follow a team that had such a poor post season track record and I was young and picking a team to follow
well there you go. I guess you dont understand how it works. The vast majority of people dont CHOSE to be Cowboys fans, they are born into it.

I grew up in NC in the 1970's/ It was Deadskin country then. Only certain teams were on TV during that time every week. I just fell in love with the Cowboys. Roger was my hero and Tom Landry was a coach I so admired. I gradually adopted them as my team although I consider 1975 when I officially started to follow them regularly. I remember the two SB losses to the Steelers and of course our SB win in 1977 against Denver. Survived the early 80's disappointments and the fall from grace in the late 80's which saw a legend get fired. Enjoyed the 90's so much. It was a great ride. This century not so much. One disappointment after another. It's frustrating because I remember when the Cowboys were looked at as one of the greatest organizations in the NFL. It's sad what's happened to the team. But I'll stay a fan until I die. Probably never see another SB title but who said life was fair.

We share similar time lines and fandom
Started following the boys in 1975
Roger and Landry were my heroes.
I respected their Faith and character off the field and loved their success on it.
Loved the dynasty of the 90s
And it's been pretty much a disappointment since.
I think as long as Jerry is GM the team is never going to have post season success.
We will see what Stephen does.

Things gotta change
Jerry is 80 years old.
I am 62 so I still have hope in the future.

Yep and I was in Western Mass. Mass doesnt even have a team. And why would anyone latch onto the horrid Pats at the time? My Father liked the Giants as well.
I grew up in Jacksonville Florida in the 70s before the Jags franchise.
The Cowboys were on all the time.
I loved it.
I did follow the Falcons in 1973,
As my cousin and HOF Norm Van Brocklin was the HC.

some of us are too stubborn to quit them even though we know they will end up breaking our hearts year in and year out. I’m 32 and was technically around for a couple super bowls even though I don’t remember them. I have a toxic relationship with the cowboys that I know is not good for me. Most years I hate that I love this team so much.

I like Mahomes, Burreaux, and Allen and I don't hate their teams but as someone else said, it just wouldn't feel right being a fan in the same way I'm a Cowboys fan. I'm too old and been a fan too long. I was in punt pass and kick as a kid. At 8 I still remember the little instructional pamphlet they gave everyone who signed up. Roger Staubach was the example of how to throw the football. I loved it because he was already MY quarterback.

I know that doesn't answer your question but there it is anyway.
