Serious question. Greg "almost there" Hardy

I honestly believe it's a mentality thing. He lost his swagger after those pics came out. It's like he gave up a little bit. He doesn't even wear his facepaint anymore.

He's the type of player that needs to be mean and play with a chip on his shoulder. That swagger gives him the extra boost to get to the QB. He doesn't have that right now.

His face and expression even look...nice. Greg Hardy needs to get mean and nasty and a little crazy. That's who he is.

The irony of this post lol. Imagine if Jerry said this in a interview

I think Hardy has slowed because of:
1. minor injuries, particularly his ankle
2. the weight of the condemnation about his domestic assault case

I don't think the Cowboys will get rid of him. And I think he'll come back even better next year.

So then the natural next question is: is bringjng him back good for the locker and culture of the team?

Winning helps a team culture. It's not like locker rooms throughout the NFL landscape don't have their share of characters, fights, divisions, etc. But winning acts as a great deodorant, as John Madden (I think) would say.

Besides, if the Cowboys can put up with Charles Haley and his antics, I think the Cowboys can put up with Hardy, assuming he doesn't assault anyone.

Maybe our line just isn't that good trying to just bring 4 people. The stunts and twists, and Barry church/Sean Lee getting sacks made it look unstoppable. Oh, and #itsromosfault

Hardy was disruptive last night... Him and Crawford take Alot of double teams, that's why I say we should blitz more.

having Byron Jones out there helps A LOT because he can shift between CB and S freeing up Wilcox or Church to blitz (similar to how they'd blitz Scandrick, but can be done more often)

What has to happen is that we need better coverage on the back end. You can't just assume it's the DE's fault for not getting to the QB. Just as you can't assume it's the DB's fault for not covering the WR all day with no pressure. Get the DB's to cover a little tighter and even attempt to jump a route every now and then, and the sacks will increase. As of now, there's not ball hawking going on back there. There's no fear for the QB to throw the ball in the tight windows before the pressure can get there.

I think we are starting to see what we wanted from this defense. sure, need more sacks, and need turnovers.
But with the suspensions and injuries and other factors. Like being on the field too much plays into overall performance.

Also, Marinelli figuring out the best combination to use all the DL in the right situations. Which took too long. Blitzing helped a lot too.

I figured it would take about 8 games to get them in real sync. But the suspensions, and losing Scandrick, other injuries here and there set it back.
Other than Romo, last week was the healthiest this team has been all year.
Missing Romo.
Missing Scandrick hurts more than realized in hindsight. But Mo playing decent, and Jones has been great. Helps a lot.

Hope they do not revert back to the old schemes against GB. Even though Rodgers is at the top of the ladder, where cousins is still learning to climb. But need the pressure on Rodgers. Their past 4 or 5 games has shown they can be beat, and have been beat. If not for the refs, they would have lost like 4 straight. Maybe that win last week, was good for them, as this would have been a truly must win situation for them.
It is for us, so pull out all the stops again. Get after Rodgers.

I'd like to keep Hardy for a reasonable contract. On the flip side, he is probably better off leaving for the Patriots, Giants or Steelers where the media will suddenly do a 180 and say Hardy has learned his lesson and deserves a 2nd chance.

And, especially in Crawford's case, THEY'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is where Hayden is lacking. A better 1T/Combo DT (like Crawford) would help this line maximize it's potential. IF Hardy is resigned and Dallas does end up with a pick around where they stand now, don't be shocked if they draft Nkemdiche for Ole' Miss.

It would surprise me if television cameras would scanned for Hardy on the sidelines during games. Or, from out of the blue, game announcers began discussing his possible negative influence on those teams while he's playing on defense. It's so weird listening to uninterrupted play-by-play, that's suddenly broken by a 15-second discussion filled with innuendo, which aburpty switches back to the play-by-play as if the actual game really DOES matter to people watching the game.

The most over the top was the announcer in the Bucs game saying Hardy shouldn't be allowed to say anything, ever, at any time. I guess the guy wanted Hardy strapped into one of those Hannibal Lecter dollys once he stepped off the field, and then wheeled back into maximum security.

Yeah that was silly.

On the flip side.

I am expecting a "signature" game from him.
I think it's either against Green Bay or Washington...... Providing we don't turn our aggressive defense OFF!

I remember when a lot of people felt that same way about Mike Tyson.....especially after the ear bits and the "I wanna eat his heart, i wanna eat his children hearts" comments....

I know we want the sacks.

He has a lot of "almost got to QBs"

What has to happen for him to finally get there with some sort of regularity.

He is disrupting offenses for sure,.. Wreaking havoc!

He needs a Charles Johnson type player at the other DE position like he had in Carolina... I wouldn't be mad if we re-signed Hardy and still used our first pick on the best pass-rusher available in the draft, although I think a stud DT would help the team more...

Yeah, but Tyson is nuts and has been for a long time. I read a lot of news on it when he was convicted of rape and sentenced to prison (there was enormous doubt in that case BTW, if that trial had been someplace besides Indiana he wouldn't have been convicted) Tyson said he didn't do the crime, but had done plenty of things that deserved four years in the slam. Everyone around him has said the same thing, while everyone around Hardy have said he is a good guy and good teammate, though more than a little bit flaky.
