Newsflash...it may not end this week, Campbell has the fins playing inspired, no quit football. If we eek out a win this week, the panthers will destroy us and likely Romo at the same time.

Quick looks shows the game opened as a pick em in Vegas.

During the game they said the Last time that happened was the 1-15 season.

Even during the Campo years of having no starting QB to speak of we still did not lose six in a row.

Not only did we not have a true starting QB... The rest the team was not as good as today's team.

Not this stupid crap again...hey man, what did you expect when Dez and TR went down? Losing D. Harris and Callahan were huge but no one would admit it. The cherry on top is the continual stupidity of the front office regarding no serviceable backup QB.

Great thread though...won't read again.

I expected them not to lose 7 games in a row.

The funny thing here is that at 2-0, facing the prospect of 7 games without Romo, you Garrett lovers all believed that Garrett could navigate some of these games and pull out a few wins because he was that good.

Now that he hasn't, let's revise your predictions and say, "Gee guys, we all expected he couldnt win games without Romo."

LOL.

I thought we could win 2 maybe 3, without Romo, and be just fine. We couldnt even win 1.

I ate the cheese after last year. I thought the organization was being directed down the right path.

Its been very disappointing watching this team play this year. It tells me when dont yet have that depth, or strength, or leadership or whatever it is, that allows the successful franchises to compete year in and year out, with a down season every now and then. Thats what I am looking for. To be able to be compete and make a decent chance to make playoffs every year....no matter what the schedule, or who is hurt, etc etc.....

This losing streak has exposed all that "thinking the organization has turned the corner". We haven't. Now, maybe next year "everything" falls into place, and we will obviously have an easy schedule. and maybe if the stars align, "maybe" we win a playoff game.....

But I am reluctantly accepting the fact that this is the Dallas Cowboys; This is what they have become. I have been waiting over two decades for that to change. Two decades.................... We are 2-7. We just lost to Tampa Bay bucs team who is starting a rookie QB..............

I dont have any more excuses or answers or good expectations...I like JJ, and the jones family. But they haven't been able to win. However you want to cut it, whatever excuse you want to use, the results speak for themselves....two decades of pretty much losing.....

Its not working; Whatever the Jones family is doing, is not working. The money is working though....they are good at that;

The Ford family in Detroit last won a championship in the 50s.

I fear that in 30-40 years’ time we might have a similar history.

If JJ wants a puppet HC like some are saying on here what would firing Garrett actually accomplish if the source of the problem is sitting on JJ's lap? If JJ is the puppet master what good will it do to get rid of the puppet?

Garret is here for the long haul.

They need to bring in a Cowher or Gruden or someone like that, give them all power over players and coaches and decisions, and then get out of the way,,,,,,,

Thats the problem. Pittsburgh, NE, Baltimore, Seattle..... GB, just look at the model. Its right there in our faces......

thats never going to happen. The Cowboys are the Jones family's personal pet project; Like having their own real life Madden Game. -- Jimmy Johnson knew this over 20 years ago.

Fans are suffering.

It's funny that the bar is so low that all of a sudden the coach gets a free pass from many because there is a backup QB in the game.. Funny how the pats went 11-5 with a back up once too, but I guess that guy was so much better........

I can't explain it because I can't explain last year's 12-4 with this coaching staff led by a guy who is obviously in way over his head.

If you go back last year and look at it game by game, the 12-4 record was actually kind of perilous and could have easily been 8-8. That being said, a win is a win in the NFL and you dont get wins taken away from you because you got lucky.

Going 11-5 with a backup is far from the norm...it is an anomaly and I think anyone with common football sense would understand that.

HOWEVER...one would also expect a team to win a game or two with a backup when they are in to play 6+ games.

My incredulity is: Can this coaching staff not devise a plan that can win them one game without Romo? They have (arguably) at least one superstar at every position except CB and safety. Not even one win out of seven with a backup QB?

That seems to be a good question and for whatever reason the answer appears to be No...Apparently No they can not win one game without Romo.

The Niners won with Gabbert, The Commanders put 47 points up against the Saints with Cousins.
The Steelers have won a few with their backups.

We have failed on many many levels. And , I dont see that changing. Why should I ?

Not bringing in a Bell-cow or not resigning Murray. the whole RBBC.= Fail.
Big whiff on the backup QB. They didn't see that in training camp? = Fail.
Letting some guys get away from last years team. = Fail.

and on and on. How can anybody defend this team and the decisions made after this 2-7 start?

How can the Jones family and Garret and all of them, think this can last ?

I would give the whole situation one more year. But , I am on board with tearing it down. And that starts with the Jones family being owners. Not people who make decisions about players and coaches etc etc. Just be owners and make the money work.

Tear the whole management structure down. Hire a GM from the outside, or a GM/Coach(my preference) and let them rebuild this organization.

Until that happens.................... this is what we were going to get. 7 bad years, one good year and then 6 bad years, one good.....rinse and repeat.

The talent on this team is the result of some astoundingly bad roster decisions. Why are we paying Jasper Brinkley $2M to kill it for the Giants right now? Why is Dwayne Harris such a capable receiver all of a sudden? Why did we think we could hang the fate of our running game on a guy who is out of the NFL already? Why were we so desperate at backup QB that we traded picks for a guy who was available for free twice since last season? Why did we give $9M/year to a guy with less than five career sacks?

I'm not sure how much of the blame falls on Garrett, McClay, or the Joneses, but whoever is in charge of "the plan" overall is proving to be grossly incompetent.

Agreed. Of course, but If Brady the best QB of all time quite possible, went down again, Pats would not lose 7 straight, I can guarantee that. By the way before the 11-5 Matt Cassel season, the Pats lost their starting qb before...his name was Bledsoe, all they did was win the super bowl..

I posted it in a thread last week.

Longest losing streaks

Inaugural year 10
Landry's last year 10
Johnsons first year 8

No other coach had more than 5. Surpassed the Campo era

Not to be nitpicky but doesn't Johnson own the 3rd and the 4th longest streak of 8 and 7 losses (now tied with the redheaded genius) in a row given the fact that we only won 1 game that year.

True statement, except he is tied with the 7 now

It's amazing to me that nobody is taking into account how big of a loss Callahan was.

If Maranelli had left in the offseason as some had feared all we would here about is how he was the magic piece...just saying
