Kickers haven’t been devalued. It’s not like good kickers are a dime a dozen. You can lose a number of games if you don’t have a consistent kicker. A lot of games come down to kickers.

All the organization can do is bring in kickers and try them out. It’s not like a consistent kicker is available. Every kicker out there has been kicked to the curb. Every team that’s looking for a kicker is in the same boat. Solid, consistent kickers don’t grow on trees and aren’t made available.

If they are waiting for the cutdown then they are basically settling for 30th to 32nd best kicker in the league.

Considering that over a quarter of all games last season were decided by 3 points or less, the Cowboys attitude towards the position seem somewhat reckless.
