Barring a huge turnaround in '09, I think he's our coach a year from now.

Wouldn't hurt my feelings none. But at the same time, Brian Billick (MIKE! MIKE! MIKE) Billick wouldn't hurt my feelings none either. Both would command respect and accountabiligty from the players.

What happened to Cowher? Has he taken a job while I wasn't looking. Holgrem, Cowher and Shannahan will be available next year. Who knows. I'd rather get Shanny or Cowher or go with youngblood but its not up to me.

What's it going to be then, eh?

No thanks to Billick. He only seems tough in beer commercials.

Billick had so much respect and accountability from his team he got fired by Biscotti because the offense and defense were at each others throats because he could not get the offense right.

Cowher is staying in TV another year, presumeably until he gets the plum job he wants with the appropriate level of personnel authority he supposedly craves.

I don't know what the sollution is but Wade has lost, I mean, never had the respect of the players. He just doesn't command respect like a Ditka or Bill Cowher did. I don't see Garrett being that guy either. It's time for a new direction. The players are fine. A strong, no nonsense coach is a must have. Everyone keeps mentioning Shanny as a good fit. Can Cowher be the answer to the coaching woes?

The players are crap with a crappy mental attitude. Physically they may have it mentally they don't. Ware's interview backs up that statement when he said there were not many men in that locker room.

Wade thought they would respond to the laid back approach - he was wrong. I am for ditching Wade becasue I don't think he can get those sorry players to where he wants them to be, but the players are not "fine". They need someone like Shanahan or Cowher to get them to that point!

You and I share the same feelings on it. You said it best when you posted the players need a Cowher or Shanny to get them where they need to be. Meaning, they are coachable. Just not by Wade.;)

Mort said this morning that his wife wanted him to decompress for a year and he was going to do just that.

Now where were all those "OMG Jerry is an idiotz for not hiring him!!!!" posts again?

he said with a smirk . . . .

Listen, Einstein, all this -- even about the wife wanting Shanny to decompress -- is speculative.
You are too quick to spout off and to defend jerra.

so wiipe that smirk off yer delicate kisser until we know for sure.
and for the record, I have always thought jerra was the best owner in the NFL. And we all agree on the rest. Lousy GM.

Well, if he does take a year off it might be a great thing. Recharge his battery a bit and be ready to go in 2010. With any luck his recharged battery might be on our sideline. Until then, all speculation, hopes and wishes.

Is there anyway we could just forfeit all our game's next year and get the first overall pick?

A lame duck year from "heh, heh" will almost be to painful to watch.

Shanahan is waiting for the Dallas job... I'd like to see Shanahan or Holmgren coaching the Boys after 2009 because we all know Wade will never lead Dallas to a championship.

I do like the fact that it appears there are going to be at least two quality head coaches available next year if Phillips proves his incompetence.

Makes me feel better about giving Phillips one more year.

I never believed the rumors that Shanny was going to KC anyways.

They are freaking horrible, just horrible. They have no QB, no defense, and a brand new GM.

Why in the world would a top level coach take that job, just didnt make sense. I agree that Shanny is waiting for some premium jobs to open next year with Dallas, Washington, and possibly Philly all needing coaches for next year.

These teams are all high profile, high revenue, large market teams.

So you're saying there is still a chance Dallas dumps Tecmo? :laugh1:

I dont see Cupcake getting fired this year, so that means Tecmo stays for 09.

However, if the team blows another season then both Cupcake and Tecmo will both be out of a job and Shanny will be the HC in 2010.

Thats how I see it.

I'm not sure it "bars" that. In fact I think all Garrett has to do to acquire the HC job is to deliver a winning season. Jerry will just think the problem is Wade and that if given the chance Jason could correct it. Or at very least, that he deserves a chance to try after 3 consecutive winning seasons.

I think Jerry has been telling the truth, that our coaching staff is virtually set, and that it may be so for a long while. After all this is the modern-day NFL, a winning record, playoffs this year or not, literally does equate to being right on the doorstep of a possible championship the next season.

Okay, so JJ may have his choice of Shanny, Cowher, and maybe Holmgren next season (oh, and don't forget Garrett ;) )! Who do you guys prefer? Personally, I'll rate them like so:
Cowher (3-4 background, loves the running game, and the youngest of the three)
Shanahan
Holmgren
with Redball being a wildcard. If he rights the ship this season, he may become JJ's "boy" once again!!

And you know the funny thing is Jerry probably believes he can waste a year with these bozos coaching us and there be no consequences. Just imagine if one of our stars sustains a career ending injury during Jerry's wasted year. I'm starting to wonder if he has any idea just how BAD and how QUICK his plan could REALLY put the Dallas Cowboys in the crapper. Well we're already in the crapper but Jerry seems like he's determined to flush it too.

His plan won't look so genius(as if it does anyway) if Romo manages to get hurt bad ....during a WASTED YEAR.

If things go bad this season regarding injuries we might not find many coaches knocking down our door when Jerry finally decides we need a real coach.
