Wow, a lot of people here who haven't payed attention to the Broncos for the last decade. Just so angry at Wade for going 9-7 that they want to replace them with someone who went 8-8 and lost a 3 game lead with 3 weeks to go...stupidity all around us.
Wow, YOU don't pay attention either. Shanahan has two Super Bowl rings(Wade heck he doesn't even know what a Super Bowl looks like), has 8 playoff wins(Wade again doesn't know what this looks like and the Cowboys since 96 don't know it either), has an over .500 playoff record. The Broncos overachieved this year if you ask me because that team wasn't good to begin with. They had one good wide receiver, a good QB, no defense, no running game and still managed to get as far as they did. Meanwhile, Wade had a team with Super Bowl aspirations and didn't even get us to the playoffs.

I don't give a crap about the Broncos 3 game losing streak. What I care about is Wade has posted some of the most embarrassing losses and emabarrassing incidents in Cowboy history and mumbles and stumbles everytime he speaks because he doesn't even believe in himself. How can the team believe in him when he doesn't. GMAB please stop with the comparison of Wade and the Cowboys this year and Shanahan with the Broncos this year. They aren't close.

Not to mention all of this was done in what is quite possibly the 2nd worst division in football behind only the god awful NFC west.

Shanahan bombed with the Raiders before going to Denver. Little Bill bombed in Cleveland before NE. Jimmy Johnson didn't light the world on fire after leaving Dallas.

Past performance isn't always an indicator of future results, especially with NFL coaches.

I have liked the idea of Shanahan since I heard the rumblings this morning about him getting canned today.

we can always hope & dream ....

but really...

you guys need to calm down and realize jason g. is our next coach in 2010.

you know how many PSLs, beers & hotdogs he needs to sell to make up for that $9m lost (firing wade/jason) AND addition $4-5m/year for Mike S?

couple that with jerry's hour long explanations of continuity, etc. it's just a pipe-dream.

But it may not be a 9 million dollar lost. Here it is . . .

There are potentially 9 head coaching jobs available. There are only so many HC candidates out there. Cowher is not going anywhere, we know he's sitting out next year.

I think Jason gets one of those HC jobs. THat eliminates part of that 9 million dollar lost.

Then you sit down with Wade and sell him on being DC/Assistant Head Coach. Jerry is great at selling stuff. Don't make it look like a demotion. Consider it a change that's best for both parties interests. Wade gets to do what he does best as DC, and he's Assistant Head Coach.

That way he can just continue to pay Wade his 3 million a year and then slip Shanahan in . . .

Now Jerry has to git er done!

I lived in Denver for decade of Shanahan. The only thing that he invented and the only reason he won 2 SB rings is the blocking scheme he used. Of course it was figured out after it ended 5 careers and ended seasons for countless others. The scheme was outlawed, and Shanahan hasn't had a decent team since. He still uses the blocking scheme ever once in while until the refs start throwing flags.
Having Shanahan here would spoil any hopes of this team ever of even making to the playoffs again. If he had been our head coach this year, we would have finished dead last in the division. In fact, I would guess that we might have won 3 games.

I know Wade is not the answer, but I am certain that Shanahan would be worse.

This is sensationalist claptrap. Do you really, really think that we would have won 3 games with Shanahan at the helm? Do you really, consciously, in an actual brain, believe that a head coach has THAT much influence over a team's performance?

Shanahan's last 10 years have been, at times, poor, and at times, near miraculous, just like any other team. But his temperament and demeanor, as well as the gravitas of having developed Super Bowl caliber teams in the past, would be a panacaea for a lot that is wrong with today's Dallas Cowboys. His one weakness? Scouting and personnel.

The situation just seems ready-made.

Shanahan is an EIU alum with a man-crush on Romo. He has an existing relationship with Jerry from the cooperative practices/training camps we've run. He clearly doesn't have a problem with TO. His demeanor is what everyone has been clamoring for. And the fears about the OL are unfounded...he won't try to force Leonard Davis to become a zone blocker.

It's probably not a necessary move, but even if you're one of the ones who thinks that all the "fire everyone" talk is overblown, there's a certain elegance to Shanahan's fit in Dallas.

Why are people ignoring that he's won one playoff game in 10 years? That he usually wins less than ten games a year despite getting Oakland and KC four games a year?

You think that would go over well here?

It's crazy. This is all based on pure media perception and "grass is greener" syndrome, not fact. Why do you think Denver just fired the guy?

I would MUCH rather have Holmgren next year... And I'm not even that high on him.

Guys, do any of you really believe that Wade won't be here next year? These threads are kinda pointless.

That being said, I like Shanahan, but he hasn't exactly lit the world on fire since Elway left.

That and the oline doesn't fit his mold one bit. But hey who cares if we have a a bumch of dirty chopblockers, at least hes a warm body.

I agree he'd be a great way to go here but I'm not holding my breath here. There is no way that Jerry is going to fire Wade, or demote him, and bring in Mike. It's just not going to happen.

Solution...let Wade go and get Shanahan now before its too late. I truly believe he will help Romo develop as a pro NFL QB. Tony is lost and need a good kick in the butt to bring him back to earth. No more commercials and other nonsense that this team does not need. Shanahan's resume speaks for itself. He will give this team the leadership it needs.

Jerry...don't wait, go get this guy now and give him full control.

I would go for that, plus he also has a good track record selecting running backs and making them shine. He already has 3 to work with.

I'm part of this "what have u done for me lately" camp! What has Mike Shanny done while running the Broncos since #7 & #30 retired? Besides, there is no way JJ let's him run the Dallas Cowboys...

Don't see all the hubub 'bout Shanahan myself. His record since Elway left is not very spectacular in the least.
